The Cave Wii U “up to par” with other consoles

Tuesday, 18th December 2012 03:08 GMT By Brenna Hillier

The Cave will use the Wii U’s Game Pad to make character selection easier, but Double Fine otherwise expects it to be identical to other console versions.

Joystiq saw the Wii U version in action last week, and reports the Game Pad is used to select characters and focus the camera on them.

Double Fine’s Chris Remo said it’s “pretty much” just like all the other versions.

“We did work really hard to ensure that visually everything you’re seeing is identical to the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, so there’s no downscaling, there’s nothing going on that is not up to par with the other next-gen systems,” he elaborated.

“There’s nothing super wacky going on, but it’s a completely full-featured version of the game.”

The Cave is due on the Wii U’s eShop in the first quarter of 2013. Despite its multi-platform release, creator Ron Gilbert says it’s been developed with core PC gameplay in mind. It’s the first Wii U game from Double Fine.

Because it looks like shit compared to modern quality current gen games.

Super Mario from 1990 will look the same on all consoles too.

@2 I think The Cave looks just fine. It’s not battlefield, but it doesn’t want to be. it has a distinctive look and nice cartoony art style.
