Resident Evil 6 PC dated for Steam, recommended specs listed

Resident Evil 6 on PC has been given a solid release date by Capcom. The game is launching via Steam and will come with a suite of Steam-centric features such as cloud saving and achievements. Get the details below.

The game is launching as a Steam download and a physical retail product worldwide from Friday March 22, 2013, and both versions will contain all of the DLC found on consoles free of charge, such as the ‘No Hope’ difficulty setting.

Here’s a rundown of the game’s Steam features:

· Cloud saving
· Steam Achievements
· Friends support
· Game overlay
· Leader boards

Here are the game’s minimum specs:

· OS: Windows Vista®/XP, Windows 7, Windows 8
· Processor: Intel® CoreTM2 Duo 2.4 Ghz or better, AMD AthlonTM X2 2.8 Ghz or better
· Memory: 2 GB RAM
· Hard Disk Space: 16 GB free hard drive space
· Video Card: NVIDIA® GeForce® 8800GTS or better
· DirectX®: 9.0c or greater
· Sound: Standard audio device

Finally, here are the recommended specs:

· OS: Windows Vista®/XP, Windows 7, Windows 8
· Processor: Intel® CoreTM 2 Quad 2.7 Ghz or better, AMD PhenomTM II X4 3 Ghz or better
· Memory: 4 GB RAM
· Hard Disk Space: 16 GB free hard drive space
· Video Card: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 560 or better
· DirectX®: 9.0c or greater
· Sound: Standard audio device

Meanwhile, in console-land, Resident Evil 6 will receive a second title update on January 22nd that makes the following changes:

Agent Hunt Mode
· Available without having to complete a campaign
· Selectable criteria for joining a session:
Stage selection
Region selection
Players can determine whether to join a session based on campaign player’s settings such as infinite ammo or friendly fire setting
Stage selection
· Individual stages within chapters can be accessed at any time once completed
· QTE assist
QTE assist is currently part of the Amateur difficulty level, and automatically completes QTEs for the player. With this update, players can optionally activate QTE assist on any difficulty level.
· Adjustments
Some sections of the game have had their difficulty adjusted to provide an improved experience

    Another DirectX9 game. Come on CAPCOM, the world is already moved to DX11 and there’s plenty of them already.

    16 GB for a DX9 game, that’s a record for sure!!

    Direct X11 won’t make a difference with the game that was designed for Direct X9 except for Tesselation.

    Never played a recent Capcom PC port then?

    Quietly looking forward to this, with at least one other friend to play with alot of the niggles with RE6 just fall away.

    Much like the difference in playing Borderlands by yourself and with a friend.

    ^ Nope, I played them, RE5 had a pretty good graphics at that time in 2009 with DirectX10 support. Now why went backward to DX9?

    DmC is using DX9 too! Strange!! Its not like we went back through time.

    DX10 made next to no difference in RE5 or DMC4 or Lost Planet 2. It was just a higher Direct X number tacked on the end.

    The reason for DmC using DX9 is thanks to UE3 though. Fucking stupid but its pretty much all Ninja Theory have ever used so I doubt they would be able to use MTFramework had they even wanted to.

    @5 16GB for install is nothing. GTAIV on PC is DX9 game and thats 18GB. RAGE on PC is DX9 game and that’s 20+GB. The size of the game file does not have anything to do with it being DX9 or 10 or 11 you could have a DX8 game thats over 5GB or even 10GB its the size of the files. This obviously has a lot of audio files, and possibly higher resolution textures as well which all add up in the long run.

    The overall specs are at best very mediocre. If you built your PC in the past three years you should be good to max this game out @ 1080p easily.

    RAGE was not a DX9 game… DX9 level more or less but not DX9.. it was OpenGL… which can do most things either via built in support or via extensions. It seems what made that game big though was the whole megatexture thing.

    It’s easy for a games install size to get inflated even without megatexturing or high res textures in general or lots of audio files. The size obviously grows the more of that kind of stuff is included but even more so with FMV’s and supporting 5+ different languages for those videos and audio files. Especially with videos it starts adding up quickly.

    I wonder if this game will have only 3 Mercenary Missions like the x360/ps3 versions… and then they will ask you to hand over some cash if you want a little more… Oh CAPCOM.. you really have become my most hated company so far… ( I rented RE6 first and glad I did…. not buying this )
