God of War's Kratos could have been blue if not for Diablo 2

God of War creator David Jaffe revealed that Kratos was originally intended to sport blue warpaint, not red.

In a post on his personal blog, Jaffe showed off the earlier design, which was still in use "literally days" before the 2005 game's press debut.

With his pony tail and blue war paint, the earlier design bears marked similarities to Diablo 2's barbarian. Jaffe said nobody on the Sony Santa Monica team had noticed the similarity before it was pointed out to them.

"You can bet we changed it, lickity fuckin' split," he said.

Check out the prototype design and its likeness below.
