Assassin’s Creed 3 Benelux PC shipment half-inched – report

Thursday, 22nd November 2012 05:24 GMT By Brenna Hillier

Thieves made off with a truck transporting the entire launch shipment of Assassin’s Creed 3 on PC for Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, according to a Dutch report.

According to Entertainment Business NL, as translated by Kotaku, the theft took place on November 14.

Barcodes and serial numbers of stolen games have been passed on to retailers, and the stolen games have been blacklisted by Ubisoft’s DRM authentication servers. If you’re in the Benelux and looking to pick up a copy of the game, you may want to use a trustworthy retailer and not some bloke you meet at the local bar.

While Ubisoft has managed to scramble about getting stock to retailers for launch this week, there’s bad news for those who’d ordered the Join or Die edition, as these limited collector’s items can’t be re-manufactured. It’s not clear whether affected customers will be compensated; it’s probably best to chat to your retailer.

Assassin’s Creed 3 arrives on PC in Europe today.

I live in the Netherlands, and pre-ordered the Join or Die edition. My retailer contacted me yesterday to confirm that it is not available anymore, but I got a DLC code in a mail to unlock the extra content that is included in the Join or Die edition. No special packaging or extra’s that come with it though. Also to compensate I got a code to get a little discount for my next order.

I think the real drama here is that Ubisoft is still using its stupid DRM system.
