Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes demo ‘Snake isn’t as old as he looks’ – Kojima

Wednesday, 5th September 2012 08:51 GMT By Dave Cook

Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes has fans speculating like mad, and one of the debated topics is the game’s time frame. In the demo unveiled recently, Snake appears as if he’s aged a fair but. That’s nonsense, according to Hideo Kojima.

Kojima took to Twitter to address fan speculation surrounding Snake’s greying hair and beard in the demo, stating that it was nothing more than a lighting effect.

He said, “Saw many tweet about Snake in grey hair after taking off the goggle. This is due to the rim-lighting.”

So the time line is once again thrown into dispute. As the characters Paz and Chico are mentioned in the demo, Ground Zeroes could be a close continuation of Peace Walker, but we won’t fully know until Kojima says so.

What do you think?

Let speculation commence.

Thanks Andriasang.

Call Mythbusters. “Can lightning effect change brown hair color to gray?”.

Well, I told ya my theory, and based on the trailer my theory is as good as you get. :P

He’s in his late 40s nonetheless. He can have grayish hair should Kojima want him to have it.

I wonder when we get to the part in MGS history where Big Boss is going to middle-east. He recruits Sniper Wolf there, as she was a Kurd. She even mistook Solid Snake with him when she asked him are you Saladin. I want that time frame, but we’re still in South America it seems.

“Snake is back on FOX” sounds like Snake is back on his meds…

This is exactly two years after Peace Walker.

It’s Sam Fisher’s clone disguised as teh Snake to fool Sony fanboys into thinking MGS is still relevant.

  6. GwynbleiddiuM

@Da Man, Like Shitsplitter Cell was ever relevant for Konami to use it to begin with. The last time Sam Fisher was relevant was in fact the time Kojima made a funny remark in his “no place to hide” MGS4 parody.

  7. Da Man

It doesn’t matter what’s relevant for them, they don’t make videogames to play with themselves.

You thought that was funny? You must enjoy Engrish jokes a lot too.

  8. GwynbleiddiuM

Well they’re certainly more funnier than you, who supposed to be the circus clown around here. Seriously, work on your trade, you seem to have lost your touch with it.

  9. Da Man

Guy, if stating that MGS slowly but steadily loses it’s relevance and getting predictably enraged responses at the slightest mention of Sam Fisher is what constitutes as being a circus clown, by all means I can’t argue with that.

But then you certainly ultimately come across as someone who’s into that kind of humor, clearly obviously in line with pompous Greggson Williams soundtracks and depressing monologues of teh Boss and her tits.

So anyway, tl;dr: Kojima should be more concerned with the dated controls and mechanics instead of that old geezer who’s supposed to be dead by now.

I don’t know what all the fuzz is about because one can see clearly that Snake has brown hair in the gameplay portions of the trailer. It really is a thing of lighting they got on here.

@1 yes. Grey and blue. Or orange. Or green. Or red. Or …. you get the point.

@9 Congratulations on winning the village idiot award of the century. You’re the only one who cared about the Boss’ tits, because you’re a sexist, plain and simple. Atop of that you’re also seem to be very disturbingly horny, because it’s not your first remark on the boss’ boobs or her masculine features.

And about the controls, it’s perfect but you wouldn’t know cause you haven’t touched MGS4 otherwise you’d have known the new control is perfect. And Snake was never a one-dimentional character, for that type of character and gameplay, a control like MGS4′s is essential. Otherwise we eould end up with another shallow Splinter Cell title.

Erm.. Mr GwynbleiddiuM, you are 17 years old, right?

    ..
    .
I was saying the way Kojima was trying to portray the supposedly tragical circumstances was utterly lame and tacky.. Aside from behaving in idiotically overdone, sentimental and pompous manner, the character of Boss had grossly insipid attempt at embodying whatever ‘sincereness’ or whatnot Kojima was trying to assert by showing ugly tits.

As for your second paragraph, to save you some time, suggest using the following useful sentence: ‘No you’.

Watch a half decent movie or something, buddy.

@14: Don’t waste your time with this guy. He’s become so predictable that it’s not even funny anymore. A shallow troll and nothing more.

    #17 2 years ago
  18. Da Man

Yes, after attempting to paint anyone who doesn’t have a taste of an angsty teenage rebel with uncontrollable libido as an Xbox fanboy, all that’s left to do is to try convince yourself he’s a troll.

And that coming from a person who posts tirades about being unable to play videogames featuring furries. The irony of young ones has no limit.

Funnily enough, Mgs is probably the most shallow attempt at getting endorphines out of the player that ever existed.

    #18 2 years ago
  19. YoungZer0

    Yeah, totally funny.

Btw. You might want to look up the words ‘irony’ or ‘troll’ because i don’t think they mean what you think they mean.

    #19 2 years ago
  20. Da Man

YoungZero, I don’t think that’s funny at all. At least not in the way you mean.

I think you should post some more thoughts on furries leading to you being unable to enjoy a videogame before calling people ‘shallow’. Might humor the internet with your musings on Bayonetta, religion, and art styles. Some truly deep and empathic stuff.

That would lead to finally grasping the meanings of words ‘troll’ and ‘irony’…

Sometimes I think people don’t even read their own posts.

    #20 2 years ago
  21. YoungZer0

@20: So just because i don’t enjoy a certain artstyle that makes me shallow? You might also want to check out what ‘shallow’ means.

    #21 2 years ago
  22. Da Man

You, of all people, continously demonstrate utterly shallow, callous and ironic idiosyncrasy.

    #22 2 years ago
  23. YoungZer0

Yawn. So predictable, shallow and ultimately boring. Do you even care about videogames? Because to me it looks like you just enjoy annoying people. Always coming into topic, writing smart comments like “He’s Sam Fishers clone!”, pissing people off on a personal level, because they have an actual opinion.

You don’t really care about anything, you don’t really have an opinion. You’re just a shallow, confused kid, who thinks he knows how the world works, because he read a lot of books from famous people.

    #23 2 years ago
  24. Da Man

What I said is written over there, what you choose to interpret with your isolated quotes taken out of context is another topic.

You described yourself perfectly though… couldn’t be more to the point.

A naive, horny person who has zero interest in anything asking for any kind of effort (omp fps/platformers/any gameplay emphasized), namedroppong Solzhenitsins and Nietzshes, who continously acts like a dick anytime he disagrees with anyone.

    ^An excellent example.

You even use the same template sentences, buddy.

    #25 2 years ago
  26. YoungZer0

Yep, that is exactly what i was expecting. Can you find more topics where i said something? Maybe an even older comment?

@24: Jesus, you sure you didn’t just discribe yourself? It’s painful how oblivious you seem to be.

    #26 2 years ago
  27. Ireland Michael

@26 You just told someone to ignore him, then derailed the trailed with half a dozen replies.

Surely you see the problem here? Two wrongs don’t make a right. This back and forth… whatever you want to call it… is just derailing the thread even more.

Lead by example, and all that.

    #27 2 years ago
  28. Da Man

No you. No you are the one. No you are oblivious. No that’s what I was expecting.

    Thanks for some contribution.

  29. YoungZer0

@27: The difference is that Gwyn was actually going to try to reason with ‘da man’s trolling. So he really was wasting his time. It’s a slow day at the office and i choose to waste my time.

@28: What’s wrong, you don’t like your own medicine?

    #29 2 years ago
  30. Da Man

    4 chan time.

    >says I describe myself perfectly as someone not exercising effort despite me regularly commenting on omp and slashers
    >calls me a troll

You just keep telling yourself, young one.

@28: What’s wrong, you don’t like your own medicine?.
Oi, really? My medicine? Language barrier, for sure :/

Next time I’ll try to ‘reason’ with someone pointing out the tackiness of a videogame, I’ll be sure to call him a troll and post some of my own. All that while calling him ironic, horny and shallow.

    #31 2 years ago
  32. Ireland Michael

@29 And it’s still clogging the thread up with pointless, argumentative bullshit.

  33. ManuOtaku

I think Kojima is right, upon close inspection i think the beard is not grey, on the sides looks like it, but on the center of the face, where is shows some shadow and for that not so much lighting, you can look is brown-black, therefore i think it is the lighting for the colour grey on the sides, so we need to come up with new time theories guys.

Disagreed on Titanic being sentimental disaster? Oh you. I’ll try and reason with your stupidity. You ‘re a horny shallow idiot.

Dear lord Da man What those numbers means? looks like Stone Cold Steve Austin right there :), they have a meaning?

    #37 2 years ago
  38. Da Man

They serve to describe the results of young one’s attempt at conquering.

    #38 2 years ago
  39. Da Man

Really though… I think I can see why so many non english speaking people enjoy this series. Think about it, you just watch some dramatic melodrama without really understanding half of it, and make up the missing with your enthusiasm fuelled by Greggson Williams..

    Funny, never considered that before.

That way it’s not half bad indeed. If you throw half of the script out and interpret dialogues in chinese.
