Prey 2 still happening despite absence from new Bethesda website

Prey 2 has vanished from Bethesda's catalogue in a website relaunch, but the publisher says it's nothing to worry about.

Although Human Head's Prey sequel was listed on Bethesda's marketing materials until recently, the refreshed website lists only Dishonored, DOOM 3: BFG Edition, and The Elder Scrolls Online among its upcoming titles.

"Since we had already announced it wasn’t coming out this year and we don’t have anything new to say on the game at this time, we simply didn’t think it’d be appropriate to include it on the new site launch. We chose instead to focus on the upcoming titles we are talking about," a Bethesda representative told IGN.

"We announced the delay in April, and until we're ready to talk about the game more, the focus on the site is on our upcoming titles," another told Eurogamer

Prior to announcing the project's delay into 2013 earlier this year, Bethesda marketed Prey 2 quite heavily.

Nevetheless, the rumour mill expected it to be canned, and later whispers hinted at contractual problems between the publisher and Human Head, reportedly inspiring the developer to down told completely.

Human Head is known to be working on a Rune sequel; it's not clear whether it has two irons in the fire or has halted work on Prey 2 temporarily. Bethesda's official word is that development continues.

If all goes well, Prey 2 should arrive on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2013.
