Borderlands 2 is "about 50-60% bigger" than original

Borderlands 2 is bigger and better than the first of Gearbox's shooter RPGs, and here's an arbitrary numerical quantification of that.

"I wouldn't be surprised if it was about 50-60% bigger [than Borderlands 1]," Gearbox VP Steve Gibson said in the latest issue of Games Master, via CVG.

But that's not all.

"It's also so much denser. Heck, just the city of Sanctuary, something like that couldn't exist in the first game. Our technology has evolved a lot to enable us to do that now," he added.

This is at least the second time Gibson has sought to put numbers on just how large the sequel is; he estimates Borderlands 2's campaign is 58 hours long.

Borderlands 2 arrives on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in September.
