Bayonetta 2? Not before Viewtiful Joe 3, muses Kamiya

Thursday, 2nd August 2012 12:30 GMT By Dave Cook

Bayonetta 2 would be ace, but Platinum Games director Hideki Kamiya would rather make a Viewtiful Joe sequel first.

Speaking in Famitsu, Kamiya explains if that he had to make a sequel to any game, it would be Viewtiful Joe, rather than Bayonetta.

Bayonetta 2 rumours have been flying around for some time, yet Platinum has remained quiet on the subject. However, Kamiya does admit that he and his team do discuss Bayonetta ideas over beer.

Meanwhile, Platinum’s most recent release Anarchy Reigns isn’t out in Europe until March 31 2013

Thanks Andriasang.

Seeing as Capcom still own Viewtiful Joe this bascially means there will never be a Bayonetta 2.

    Oh Kamiya.

#1 absolute Maybe capcom will go with Platinum to make a new viewtiful Joe, like they did With Ninja theory for DMC, and the resident evil shooter, unless there is some bad blood between the two developers, though, therefore maybe this doesnt mean never to bayoneta 2, and i hope so.

There is a reason that all of Capcom’s major design talent left the them, im not saying theres bad blood but it has to say something that all of them have left apart from Ono, who was hospitalised instead.

Poor Ono. I wish they’d take better care of their talent…

If they want to be remembered for a great videogame don’t sequalize Bayonetta, if they want to become known as one game wonder, do it.

#6 this developer has been for quite a few times a one game wonder with games like okami, god hand, vanquish, madworld, bayoneta, etc, therefore if they decide to make a sequel for one of their games, i will not criticize them, at one point they will have to do it, and i think from that list bayoneta and god hand are the top candidates to do so, lets see if they can improve a great game, they need to approach that untouched and untapped scneario, in their case of course.

#7, so far they’re known as a dev which made some really great games, an inferior sequel will lead to becoming a one game wonder, since you can’t just copy paste that one with added ’2′. There’s nothing to improve there.

Vanquish was shit and unnecessary btw. And God Hand was half bad.

For me both were great, but thats fine, is your opinion and i respect it, but what i did try say is that they never did a sequel to any of the games that they have been involve before, therefore why not let us see if they can handle sequels too, and if they can improve what they alredy had made in great games, i mean if they can best the better, themselves.
p.s in life, on all things, theres always room from improvement, since a perfect thing does not exist.

    Nothing to improve.

And did you think God Hand, let alone Vanquish were just as good as Bayonetta? Oh well then.

#10 Well i like god hand even more, but thats my preference, but if you think they were not good for some valid reason, thats my point, why not improve them to make them better, and maybe this time you will end up loving them.

#11, yes, that’s because unlike them Bayonetta doesn’t need any improvements. And by producing an unnecessary sequel they ‘ll do nothing but make the game’s success questionable.
