Kid Icarus: Uprising developer shuttered

Project Sora, an independent studio founded by Masahiro Sakurai to develop Kid Icarus: Uprising, has quitely closed up shop.

The developer was founded in 2009 and was funded by Nintendo and Sakurai's primary company Sora among others.

Andriasang noted an announcement of the studio's June 30 closure on its website; the site itself will also fold at the end of the month.

No reason has been given for the closure and there is no indication of whether staff will be relocated to Sora or Nintendo teams.

Project Sora's only release was Kid Icarus: Uprising; Sakurai has indicated he isn't interested in pursuing a sequel.

Sakurai and Sora are currently working on a new Super Smash Bros. game in collaboration with Namco Bandai, for 3DS and Wii U.
