David Yarnton leaves Nintendo after nearly 20 years

Nintendo UK’s general manager is leaving the company to “pursue opportunities for a change of career outside Nintendo”.

David Yarnton, Nintendo UK’s general manager, will shortly leave the firm to pursue other opportunities, MCV has reported this morning.

Yarnton has been with Nintendo for almost 20 years, working as sales director at Nintendo Australia and then, since 2003, as general manager at Nintendo UK.

In a statement issued by Nintendo, the company wished Yarnton “every success in his choice of new career,” before going on to confirm that the firm’s European president, Satoru Shibata, will be “working alongside the UK’s senior management team and will be actively involved in the running of the UK office until a replacement is announced.”

Yarnton’s departure follows that of marketeers Rob Lowe and Dawn Paine earlier this year.

I think it’s probably a good call. Nintendo are on rocky waters, he’s obviously loaded and could pick and choose his next role.
