Valve: No L4D prequel coming from Overkill

Valve’s Chet Faliszek has confirmed to PCGamesN in an interview it and Overkill are working on a collaboration, but not a L4D prequel as reported yesterday.

“I want to make sure that people don’t think the prequel is coming,” he told the site at E3.

“Those guys are still making Payday: The Heist, we’re still making Left 4 Dead. We’re trying to be a little coy and a little fun because we want the communities to discover the collaboration for themselves.”

Overkill announced the collaboration with Valve last month.

It was rumoured yesterday that Overkill and Valve were working together on a prequel that told the events of the L4D universe before the zombie outbreak.

Consider that rumour culled.

It’s pretty obvious how that’s gonna go down, no? One minute you’re robbing banks, and then boom, zombie outbreak.

If it’ll bring Payday into the Source engine and improve the mechanics a bit, I’m all for it.

Well it was expected. Valve would never let someone else handle one of their IPs when they can do it just fine.

Actually, they did so with the original L4D. It was made by another team and that’s why L4D1 was so superior to the purely Valve made L4D2. Valve is still great though. Just not the best team to work on L4D.
