Assassin’s Creed III now available for pre-order on the PS Store

Friday, 8th June 2012 16:13 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Sony has announced you can pre-order Assassin’s Creed III through the PS Store, as well as incentives for doing so.

When you pre-order the standard edition of the game, through the store or at retail, you will receive the exclusive single-player mission A Dangerous Secret where you’ll fight against “a secret that could jeopardize the founding of the revolution.”

If you pre-order the Assassin’s Creed III Gold Edition, it also includes the A Dangerous Secret mission as well as a season pass for exclusive discounts on future content. It will run you £109.99.

Now, should you decide to pre-order through the PS Store, here’s the list of extra benefits you’ll get, which apply to most game pre-orders through the store:

  • Pre-Order Offers: Many pre-orders come with exclusive discounts, offers or additional content at no extra charge.
  • Auto-Download: Pre-orders will auto-download to your console in advance of the official release date: meaning there’s no waiting to play on release day.
  • Pay Later: When you pre-order on PlayStation Store you don’t pay anything up front. We’ll charge your wallet a few days before the official release date, giving you plenty of time to save up for your next favourite game.

If I wasn’t trying to save hard drive space, I’d get this. Plus, I already plan on getting the Ubisoft Workshop Edition of Assassin’s Creed III, so I’m good. But this isn’t half bad for anyone who might think about getting ACIII like this.

Pretty good deal, but I have the world’s slowest internet connection made even slower on my PS3 :P So this ain’t really an option for me.

I would’ve pre-ordered the game on PSN at an instant, had it been reasonably priced. 69.99€ for any sort of digital copy of a game is just ludicrous to me. I can get myself a regular, boxed copy just under 45€ with shipping.
I’d probably purchase all my games downloads if the prices were at the same level, though. It’s just that much more convenient.
