Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse to feature co-op, multiplayer

Activision's announced the first details on Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse's plot, confirming it'll take inspiration from the popular episode Road to the Multiverse.

The game will let players become Brian and Stewie as it attempts to save Quahog getting destroyed by the returning Bertram, Stewie's evil twin.

Players will encounter and battle favorite Family Guy characters along the way, with Brian and Stewie capable of unique powers and weapons.

It'll also feature co-op and competitive multiplayer levels "with a Family Guy twist".

"Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse draws inspiration from ‘Road to the Multiverse’ – one of the most popular and notable episodes in the Emmy Award-winning series," said Activision EVP David Oxford.

"This episode provides an amazing backdrop for introducing Family Guy’s hilarious brand to today’s consoles.”

Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse launches later this year for PS3 and 360.
