Activision has released a new video for The Amazing Spider-Man, which details the game’s web rush mechanic. According to the game’s executive producer, Brent Nicholas, web rush allows the player to slow time in order to make strategic choices regarding Spidey’s next move. Once activated, a variety of navigational and combat options can be chosen such as attacking your enemy stealthily from the shadows or just rushing in to provide a beat down. Actually sounds like a great idea.

Ok, I liked this vid. So far everything from this game looked terrible and coming from the devs of disappointing Shattered Dimensions and its worse sequel, I had already dismissed it.

While this mechanic feels a bit showy and un-interactive but combining its power with the freedom of open world could just what Beenox needed. Seriously, after wrongfully removing Spidey from open-world design (Something that has been great about his games from Spider-Man The Movie to Web of Shadows), it seems they’re finally back where Spidey belongs: An open world full of swinging abilities.
