First Vita-compatible PSOne title spotted

Buried in this week’s PlayStation Store update is Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, a PSOne game which seems to herald Vita emulator support for classic releases.

Although it doesn’t actually work, NeoGaf and Reddit users found that the licensed title can be installed to the Vita, the first PSOne title to support the new handheld in any way.

Screengrabs show a very PSOne-like backdrop when viewing the game’s home screen, suggesting some of the supporting structure is in place.

Sony has been working on adding PSP and Minis titles to the Vita’s library, with PSOne classics expected to follow. PSOne emulation is one of the system’s most requested features.
