Super Mario 4 domain in Nintendo’s hands
It could just be a sudden defensive domain purchase, But Nintendo has snapped up SuperMario4.com.

Nintendo of America registered the Supermario4.com domain on April 3, although it has existed since 2007.
Visiting the URL drops you straight back to Nintendo’s country selector page with no clues as to what it might mean.
We probably have a pretty good idea though; at the end of January Nintendo president Satoru Iwata promised a new 2D Mario game for the 3DS.
Thanks, IGN.

I’m confused… it was created in 2007 but registered in 2012? WTF is the difference between creating and registering when it comes to domains?

Of course there will be a Mario platformer for Wii U. And a Zelda. As well as all their other moneyforoldropegames.

It was probably created by fans, for a fansite. But Nintendo has now copyrighted the domain name. Meaning that if there was a fan site called SuperMario4.com they would have to rename their site as obviously a fan made site would not possess the money to copyright the name and they probably couldn’t either as Super Mario is obviously already copyrighted.
