LBP Karting to launch this year on PS3, first video
Sony has announced LittleBigPlanet Karting, developed by United Front Games, will launch this year on PS3 providing fans a new means to” Play, Create, Share” in competitive and cooperative karting adventures in various 3D environments. A video has also been released and is posted below.

The storyline has Sackboy trying to save the Craftworld universe in objective-based missions, boss battles, and mini-games.
On the create side, players can customize their Sackboy and karts and new level editor tools will allow players to construct “far more than just kart racing games.” This extends to designing their own karting experiences, the ability to make their own game rules, weapons, and tracks “allowing the imagination to run wild in a completely open environment.”
Players will also be fully able to share this content with others around the world through PSN.
“Since the launch of LittleBigPlanet, our community has provided incredible support, which can be seen in the more than six million levels and games that have been created and shared online through PlayStation Network, a truly wonderful accomplishment,” said Guy Longworth, SVP, PlayStation Brand Marketing, SCEA.
“Now, we’re thrilled to bring PlayStation 3 owners the next Play, Create, Share experience, LittleBigPlanet Karting, a brand new competitive karting adventure that is sure to move this genre forward, providing endless entertainment for fans and newcomers, while resonating with every member of the family, young and old.”
Developed by United Front Games, in conjunction with Media Molecule, LittleBigPlanet Karting is a both single or multiplayer experience which will be exclusive to PS3 when it launches in 2012.

Just look at the first Media Molecule’s LBP 2 video and compare it to this one and you will understand that LBP karting does not have the soul, like previous two LBP games had.
Sony is milking the franchise pretty much.

@2
That’s a bit of an unfair comparison though, as this vid clearly has a different purpose. You need to be comparing the gameplay of each not the promo vids. This actually does a great job of showing you what the game is like and how it will work. It’s closer to the later vids of LBP2 with gameplay montages.

Oh wow, even battle is in there, looking more and more like Mario kart. But that was to be expected. Doesn’t look bad, but can’t say i’m excited for it.

Looks good, hope it sells well too. Many ps3 exclusives despite their awesome quality dont sell well.

I’m excited about this! I love a good karting game, and was never really sold on ModNation. LOVE the little sackdudes and have no doubt MM will deliver another superb game!

Except it’s not MM delivering it’s United Front – i.e. the ModNation people. Not such a bad thing as ModNation had a lot of good features, just lacked character (and load times killed it).

I just want the same feeling I have playing Crash Team Racing… Man, I play that game at least five times every year, it´s so entertaining…

Vita announcement at E3? I can’t see how this won’t end up on Vita as well.

That’s not such a bad thing. It also means that Mm themselves are working on something else

Ok, let’s all be honest, if this was created by Mm this trailer would of been 10x more kick ass not to mention an original track to accompany it.
Long loading times.
Complex track building.
Laggy controls.
Terrible netcode.
That’s all the reasons I couldn’t get into modnation.
If this is anything like that then no….. No…. NO!

Complex track building in ModNation? What are you some kind of idiot? That was the one thing they did very well.

I love mario kart, I liked MNR a lot, it has it’s issues, long load times mostly, but the selection of tracks its amazing, this game seems to take the foundation of MNR but with a lot more possibilities, a lot of gameplay modes etc.. I’m excited for it, the trailer it’s great.
