First Darkness II scores looking good as reviews hit

2K’s lifted the reviews embargo for The Darkness II, with first scores looking great for the Digital Extremes shooter sequel. What’s the overall consensus? Get rounded up below the break. If you have any scores to add, do so below the break.

The Darkness II launches today in the US and on Friday for PS3, 360 and PC.

The main complaint seems to be a very short SP part,but those are some pretty good reviews nevertheless.

Dutch review by PS Only, 7/10, http://www.psonly.nl/reviews/2049/The_Darkness_II/. Same issues as other reviews, short SP and relatively superficial story.

Oh man what a damn shame. I was playing the demo the othe day and thought to myself…please let the story be at least 9 hours or more. Six is similar to COD campaigns, fuck this!

I’ll get it later on, when the price has been lowered.

6 hours? WTF. Damn, I was really looking forward to this. Completing it in a day is going to be far from satisfying.

I really don’t see the problem with a “six hour” shooter.

I’d much rather have six hours of good entertainment, than six hours of good entertainment, padded with another 14 hours of pointless filler.

And really, I think that fits with most shooters.

People complained about it with games like CoD, but I’m usually tired of playing CoD singleplayer after the first four hours. There’s no way I’d go further than six.

If The Darkness II is a middle of the road shooter, of course that’ll only serve to make it even more unremarkable, but really I don’t see a problem with six hours if it’s six good hours.

It’s always surprising to see virtually all the reviews dropping at the same time with pretty much the exact same score. I think it’s fair to say that The Darkness 2 is a good but not great game. A solid 8 all round
