No head-to-head online multiplayer for ModNation Racers on Vita
If you’d been looking forward to playing with ModNation Racers: Road Trip, when it launches alongside the PlayStation Vita, you might have to get used to the idea of playing by yourself.

Vernon Mollette II, the game’s producer, confirmed yesterday in a live chat hosted by PlayStation that while the game will support ad-hoc multiplayer (where all gamers have their own copy), there will be no online multiplayer option.
Well, there will, but it won’t be head-to-head, with the developers instead preferring to go with an “asynchronous” model, similar to TrackMania – it will record and compare track times and you may play against ghost cars, but if you wanted to challenge your mates to a few laps, you’ll have to think of something else.
If you’re a map designer, don’t stress – you’ll still be able to share all of your creations online, as well as checking out options such as the new-to-Vita Near – so it’s not a completely off-line experience.
That said, Mollette also explains that you’ll be able to acquire all of the game’s trophies without an online connection, which is handy when you’re doing most of your driving on the bus.

… Why?
This takes a lot out of the game.

Big time, I was a cert for this, now it’s going to have to wait if I buy it at all.

This is not the way to compete with mario kart 7, i wonder whos ideas this is it?, is a no-no in my book, especially on a new handheld with such incredible potential.

Come on devs, this isn’t the PSP you’re working on, the Vita is a proper machine. Or is it? Starting to wonder if limitations like this are appearing pretty simple game types.
