Don’t panic: GSC continuing work on S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2
GSC’s confirmed that development is continuing on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 after the Christmas break, calming fan nerves the sequel was canned. However, a spokesperson for the firm has admitted that in order for development to proceed, funding is needed.

In a Facebook status posted on the game’s official page, it said: “The Stalker team is extremely happy! Why? Because we are continuing work on Stalker 2 after the holidays.”
It comes as the future of the game and GSC as a whole was under threat near the end of last year, when it was reported the studio would be closed and that staff wouldn’t be paid until February at least.
The fact the shooter hasn’t been canned seems to suggest that there’s a happy ending nearing after all, albeit cautious optimism should funding come through.
“We are still in the process of seeking funding to back up the project,” a GSC spokesperson Oleg Yavorsky told Edge. “We are hopeful things turn out well eventually. The team really wants to see STALKER continue.”
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is planned for sometime later this year on PC, 360 and PS3.
Thanks, GON.

Does that mean they’re working for nothing or working for quick and dirty borrowed money?
I’d say there’s still a pretty good chance they might not find that funding.

@7 Good? Saying that no one wants to support your game, and that your studio is in so much distress that apparently even the PR guy doesn’t know what’s going on, and resorts to using the official twitter to beg for work?
I don’t think so. All they’d have to do to get posts is send out a few e-mails with screenshots. I think the meltdown and the way they handled it has hurt their chances to find that money, and it almost certainly means that no one will want to go all in. Publishers don’t need mismanaged studios when the market is in decline.

They just need a console publishing deal and some extra support from said publisher…so fund them, and we will come
