DOOM 3 source code release awaiting legal clearance
The promised release of DOOM 3′s source code is looming on the horizon.
“DOOM 3 source is packaged and tested, we are waiting on final lawyer clearance for release,” Id Software’s resident wizard John Carmack tweeted.
At Quakecon 2011, Carmack said the source code would be sent into the wild after RAGE’s release in October.
As well as enabling mods to be launched as stand-alone games, the release of the source code enables fans to develop community patches fixing bugs or increasing compatibility, or even overhauling graphics.

Strongly hope its gonna be Better than RAGE cuz RAGE i was looking very much forward to but turned out to be Short which is something no one wants in a Fre Roam Game and Doom is not so hope they can Make a Scary enough Enviroment or a Good enough Story But wont be having much Hype this Time so il just say Standing by…..

Uh this has nothing to do with DOOM 4 but Doom 3 that was released on the Xbox.

Awesome! Can’t wait to have a look at it. I just hope it is better than the source code for Duke Nukem 3D. Now that was really messy xD. Still, i can’t wait to get my hands on this.

Even when there games are average I support these guys because they keep releasing source code into the wild like this. In a world of closed communities like Apple and Live, some with unnecessary fees IMHO (Live) I just love the attitude.
