Turn 10 looking into reports of Forza 4 players being unjustly banned

Monday, 17th October 2011 22:38 GMT By Debabrata Nath

Forza 4 developer Turn 10 is looking into complaints issued by players who claim that they have been unjustly banned from Xbox Live due to playing Forza 4.

A number of Forza 4 players have posted on the game’s official forum, complaining that they have been banned from playing the game without valid reasons.

Although Turn 10 hasn’t disclosed why the players have been banned, fans speculate Microsoft might be banning users whom it suspects of paying real world money for in-game credits, which can be used to buy cars from the auction house in the game.

Turn 10 community manager Brian Ekberg has stepped up and issued a statement confirming that the studio is currently looking into the matter.

“We are investigating claims from a select group of Forza 4 players who believe they have been unfairly banned from Xbox Live,” he wrote on the Forza 4 forum.

“We take piracy issues very seriously and will be investigating this matter case by case. If we find accounts that have been banned in error, we will reinstate them.”

Forza 4 is now available exclusively for Xbox 360.

If players want to trade money for time, why ban them? They’re not getting an unfair advantage over other players, they’re merely saving time. If this is about piracy, that seems a little far fetched. Piracy is currently very difficult on the XBOX360, they just introduced a new disk format and only one burner is available that is able to reliably burn the Verbatims at that size and layout. Also, a new 360 drive firmware is needed. So Microsoft just marginalized piracy of new titles on their console in just a few weeks.

But you CAN buy in game credits for Microsoft Points.. How is that any different?

I assume it means players buying in-game credits with real-world money from hackers through eBay or something.

Heres one for you I just got a 20 year ban for a vinyl that had made all it had was a fist rised in the air and the words artist against censorship I made it to protest the unjustified bans that have been happening on Forza 4 how ironic is that, getting censored for fighting against censorship.
