Sony: “Ask Capcom,” if you want to know why Monster Hunter 4 isn’t on Vita

Thursday, 15th September 2011 19:17 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

SCEJ president Hiroshi Kawano has quipped that if you want to know the reason why Monster Hunter 4 is not heading to Vita, “ask Capcom.”

Speaking with Reuters at TGS 2011, Kawano said he didn’t know why the popular handheld title was only announced for 3DS and not Sony’s newest handheld, especially when previous iterations of the Monster Hunter helped sell bucket loads of PSP units in Japan in the past.

The market was asking the same thing on Tuesday, shares in Capcom fell after the title was announced for 3DS.

However, Sony Worldwide president Shuhei Yoshida believes Monster Hunter 4 is still possible for Vita, as “most large game publishers operate on a multiplatform basis.”

Maybe Capcom is just not ready to announce it, yet.

Vita releases in Japan on December 17.

The presentation trailer for Monster Hunter 4 is below, and you can watch the teaser trailer shown at TGS through here.

Right… I still doubt we’ll see it stateside. It’s been almost a year since MHP3 released in Japan and we still have no US release information.

Capcom is starting to go blind to a lot of its fans.

I hate to have to say this but Capcom and turning into a bunch of clowns, there constantly dropping the ball.

DLC fiasco with there games, charging hell on earth for the games and now this… Its sad because PSP made Capcom infinate amount of money in the Monster Hunter franchise so this here is beyond me…

Capcom is a bunch of Divas.

The fact I’m slating them I almost feel bad for it because they boughht me some of the best IPs ever to witness a console… Onimusha just to name one right now. lol

But yea, Capcom stick your finger out and sort it fuckin’ out for christ sake.

Capcom… Bring us a new Dino Crisis! I don’t care if it’ll only be a small budget PSV title, just make it happen!

Given it was only two years ago that Capcom said all major IPs would be multiformat from then on, they either have short memories or Monster Hunter 4G will be out for Vita sooner rather than later.

Dino Crisis? If thats going to happen, i will cut my d… joking.
It’s a dead franchise in terms of profit.

CAPCOM can’t even make decent Devil May Cry or Resident Evil and someone have dreams for Dino Crisis?

It’s pretty unthinkable they won’t have MH on Vita.

    Otherwise….well, Capcom really are idiots.

If it is indeed a 3DS exclusive, I think that it’s pretty obvious that Nintendo are paying for exclusive rights.

Probably for the same reason there was no Street Fighter on N64 or Dmc on Dreamcast.

I think Capcom are just being lazy like they always have been with this series. Effectively i always knew they would go for the 3DS, hell, i even said it several times in the past in the comments of older articles.
Want to know how i knew they’d take this route?; Because ever since the PS2 era ended, Capcom have picked their platforms to not have to significantly upgrade their engine and assets. On 3DS they can pretty much use all of their old stuff, dating back to the PS2, on Vita that wouldnt pass to well. this is also why Capcom have refused to make one on PS360.

Yes, Capcom were never lazy at all, which is why Onimusha had prerendered backgrounds up until the mid 2000s. True story.

    Yeah was surprised at this.

My opinion is Nintys taken the plunge and signed a deal with them publishing the game outside of Japan.

Only reason I can think of for capcom to go with an underperforming handheld and turn their backs o nthe millions of psp buyers.
