Steam officially offering refunds for From Dust over DRM troubles

Steam is offering refunds to folks who purchased From Dust through the service, should they request one, per the urging of Ubisoft.

According to reports from RPS readers, emails have been sent out to Steam users informing them of the impending patch which will remove the DRM from the Eric Chahi-developed title.

Should owners of a digital copy not wish to wait on the patch, they can get a refund.

Here is a copied excerpt from the mail:

"Ubisoft has just announced that they are working on a patch that will eliminate the need for any online authentication for From Dust. The patch will release in approximately two weeks. If you don’t want to wait for the patch or if you haven’t played the game, per Ubisoft’s request, we will issue refunds for this title. If you would still like your purchase of From Dust refunded, please reply to this ticket.”

Last week, reports stating Steam was offering refunds for the game surfaced, but only became official today. Ubisoft were offering refunds to those who purchased the game through its website.
