Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor finally debuts at gamescom
Capcom and Microsoft have finally pulled back the curtains on what may be one of the first true core Kinect games – Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor. Screens, artworks, intel and trailer through the break.

The From Software re-imagining of the Xbox classic – which shipped with its own enormous dashboard peripheral – uses a hybrid control pad and Kinect system.
Movement, aiming and firing is done on the controller, while other actions – starting the engine, using the scope, and manning a secondary turret machine gun – are triggered with upper body movements.
Additionally, Kinect controls are used for communicating with crew members – high fives and calming gestures are mentioned.
The game is set in 2082 in a world without semiconductors, ravaged by war. Players take control of Vertical Tank (VT) pilot Lt. Powers and fight in battlefields in the US and across the world.
Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor is currently slated for release in 2012. Here’s a little tip: watch this one. Expect a report from the ground zero team ASAP.

My unused steel battalion is in its box in the loft, yet I’m still excited by this.

I hope there’s a live stage demo. I’d love to see it in action!
