Modern Warfare 3 drops Commando perk

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's most controversial perk has been axed in Modern Warfare 3. Hear that? It's the sound of simultaneous celebration and rage.

Discussing the game's melee system, Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling tweeted that the Commando perk had been cut as part of the game's balancing.

The Commando perk, available in tier three, allowed Modern Warfare 2 players to trigger a melee attack from a greater distance, resulting in enemies virtually teleporting into stab range. It's not uncommon to meet players or even groups of players who rely solely on melee as a result, which enrages those who find it a bit cheap.

Modern Warfare 3 is due on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in early November.
