Report: NGP is Sony’s “future platform”
A Sony representative has reportedly refuted speculation that the PlayStation 4 is already in the works.

The spokesperson apparently told Ripten that a recent reference to a “future platform” meant the NGP, which will see full reveal at E3.
During Sony’s latest financials, vice president Masuru Kato had said costs were already being incurred for a “future platform“.
A new console generation is generally expected in around four years, which if accurate means Sony ought to have something brewing already – Microsoft is already hiring hardware engineers – but it looks like we’ll have to sit tight and enjoy the amusing mock ups for now.

So… all that PS4 talk was about the NGP?
That’s pretty funny

Mere PR bull, to make sure people don’t stop buying PS3s because they think a new console is on the way.
We all know it’s being designed.

Technically, he never said they WEREN’T working on PS4. He was just referring to the comment made earlier by Kato about the financials of the NGP.

It would be stupid to talk about a PS4 right now…really stupid strategy if that’s it.

Maybe they’re just focussing on NGP or Vita or whatever it’ll be called and they’re going to wait for a few years to decide the spec of PS4 as advancements in tech during that time might make manufacture cheaper?

Actually boys and girls. Sony and everyone else works on the next platform when previous baby ships.
PS4 is in the works since PS3 was launched.
