@45: Seems they are using a new Engine for it:

“Seems they are using a new Engine for it:”
I’ll believe it when i will see it.
Treyarch said the same thing about Black Ops motion capture tech that it is new and amazing and in the end it was “nothing special”.
I’m sure that they upgraded the old one… Again. You can upgrade any engine with new code and call it new. In reality it’s just belts and whistles.
I remember they said something about the destruction. I’m sure that they are going to use pre scripted walls. Thats not a new engine.

But if its the old engine, surely we all should notice that. Black Ops didn’t look much better than MW2, if at all.

Black Ops apparently used an older revision of the engine compared to MW2. I thought MW2 was a decent looking game but Black Ops looked quite poor. I’d imagine they have just upgraded a ton more stuff for MW3.

I wasn’t going to see the finals anyway (no huge bball fan), but maybe I’ll tune in later.

Umm, was it just me or did anyone else feel mw2 looks so much more polished than blops did? Black ops felt like it had this ‘smudge’ effect to everything almost while mw2 looked more clean and polished. Anyway will be interesting to see what this trailer has to offer if anything.

If anyone’s interested in trying the Modern Warfare 3 demo, it recently leaked on the Internet. I’ve been playing it for the past 5 hours, and I must say it’s pretty amazing.
The site that I got the demo from is here,, get it while the link’s still up!

I never really noticed that. I thought they looked the same, some missions in the campaign i thought looked better than MW2. Maybe i’m wrong…i didn’t pay that much attention to it.

Don’t remember if they said it was new. But i remember how they applaused themselves, because this is the exact same technology that was used for the shitfest that calls itself “Avatar”.
“I remember they said something about the destruction. I’m sure that they are going to use pre scripted walls. Thats not a new engine.”
Well, they never said it was a new engine. I’m not expecting anything Frostbyte-like. As you said pre-scripted stuff.

@61: Might be part of the art-direction, if you look at black ops, everything’s dirty and muddy, if you look at MW2, everything’s shiney and clean.

Texture loading issues were far more prominent on Black Ops than MW2 on the 360 at least.

Both World at War & Blops single/multi player look crap on the ps3 when compated with MW1/MW2. I just assumed Treyarch struggled with the ps3 hardware.
Though with Blops I find the multiplayer looks better than the single player. Maybe they had the top guys work on the mp cuz that’s what people buy COD for, not the 4 hour training mission?

@65: I actually think the singleplayer was the better part of Black Ops. The multiplayer has such horrendous maps that it steals all the fun for me.

i dont think COD would throw away 60fps. its something that the franchise has over all the other shooters on consoles.

Agreed YoungZero. And the guns weren’t really very clever, even if they did add a few nice rarities.
I don’t see why stuff like dispersion is suddenly cool, personally I prefer to hit where I actually aim. I’m pretty sure the gun wielders of the world prefer their weapons to act in a similar way.
As for the “new” engine – There’s no chance. Infinity Ward uses a customized id 3 engine, and stick to adding a few more bells and whistles in time for every iteration. It’s almost certainly going to be something along the lines of “IW 5.0″.
You don’t scrap what you got and start over while you’re winning the race by a large margin.

@DSB The way I understand it, a smell yet vocal group of internet dweebs moaned that the guns in MW2 were to accurate &/or powerful. SoTreyarch added dispertion to nerf all their guns and balance Blops.
Because all internet dweebs who’ve never fired a real gun know that when you squeeze that trigger bullets should like fly everywhere -_-

Haters clearly gonna hate, but Im looking forward to this game anyway.
Wasnt big on black ops – but at least this looks fresh – maybe not an entirely new engine, but i know im still gonna have fun by the looks of it.
Hopefully some more missions like Crew Expendable. At least playing as other armed forces, the whole game wont be “hooo ah”… not that theres anything wrong with that.

How on earth they would have managed to create a new engine considering all that happened at infinity ward last year. They lost what? 50% of their staff. I honestly have alot of trouble believing that rumor.

Thanks – that actually looks better than I expected. No Battlefield 3, but very good. I’m going to surprise even myself and say that gameplay video has now restored my interest.

It’s obviously not a new engine. I also doubt that it’s a newer IW engine based on iD3. It’s looks like IW 4.0

@73, clearly i was just trying to make a joke. why did i think i could make a comment without being insulted?
Why do you guys even come here and comment if youre so against the game? You’d give it a lot less exposure if you simply ignored it all together.
thanks vg247 community, thanks.

@OrbitMonkey Obviously yeah.
“This game is too fair, people actually hit where they aim!”.
And then they have the balls to go on to suppose that games with dispersion are actually harder to play, when really, it just means the guy who’s got the drop on you, has less of a drop on you, and vice versa.
The realism argument is obviously null and void, since most parts of any firearm from the late 1700s and onwards are designed towards accuracy and durability, and the fact that videogames were never supposed to cater to it in the first place.
But there you go, it’s the internet, it does pretty much everything except make sense
