Quickshots – Minecraft sky dimension confirmed

A future update will bring a “sky dimension” to Minecraft, joining Hell and, you know, the one you normally walk around in.

Notch tweeted a series of images of an experimental “sky dimension” for Minecraft yesterday.

It seems he was just messing about, but after the images drew attention from PC Gamer among others, the developer confirmed the addition.

“And because PC Gamer made such a big deal of the sky dimension, I guess I’ll have to finish it. Consider it confirmed,” he said.

Thanks, That VideoGame Blog.

Oh notch. I love you, but why oh why are you so… unstructured? Look, you teased us about the awesome piston mod becoming a fully fledged part of the game ages ago, and now you’re working on a sky dimension? That’s not pistons. And how about making the nether dimension actually useful for something before adding another dimension?

I love minecraft, but Notch’s updates feel pretty.. random. Made without an overall master plan. He seems to implement whatever he feels like not what would actually benefit gameplay.
Right now Minecraft is a Sandbox without goal or sense and the fun you have with it is tied to your creativity.
