Valve not showing anything at E3 this year

Our email box just got a bit sadder a while ago when we received word from Valve that it will not be “showing any titles” at E3 this year.

Granted, the publisher wasn’t listed on the recent exhibitor’s list, but it didn’t phase us at the time because it has been known to pop in and surprise people last minute before – Sony’s E3 2010 presser is just one such example.

Anyway, the firm never said it would not be there, it just won’t be showing anything. Either way, we’ll be keeping our ears to the ground and our eyes on the prize just in case the firm changes its mind.

I can promise you that they won’t show anything. Their focus this year is Portal 2, STEAM and probably DOTA 2.

Because for Half-Life 3 event you need something it’s own. Not just E3.

Games from VALVE these days are just to promote Steam so it’s a strategy for them. + they want Half-Life 3 to be a perfect game.

I never said they would show anything, just that they may just pop up somewhere.

After last year’s display I think that Valve will be at e3 next year. Sure they didn’t say they’re werent going to e3 last year but I do think that they will surprise us.

they’ve been at e3 3 years in a row.
If anything this email shows something big is going to be announced, like last year

It’s becoming quite pathetic how long it’s taking them to announce a Half Life 3, what the hell are they thinking? Episode 2 had such an open ending…and HL3 still ain’t here. I just don’t get it.

Balls, i know everyone is waiting for HL3 or Episode 3, but i was really looking forward to hearing an announcement for Left 4 Dead 3 or something along those lines…

I’ve just started playing Left for Dead 2 again and it’s a ton of fun in multiplayer. It’s one game i wouldn’t mind seeing an update every year or so. I have no idea why people complained so much that the sequel came so soon after the original game, i must have played both for a 100 hours plus! :)

Didn’t they “cancel” their E3 event last year, only for Gabe to show up at the Sony conference? They might be less likely to show up this time, but me is still skeptical.

Half-life 3 is in danger of becoming the new Duke Nukem Forever :(

@9

Im sure there just waiting for the new batch of “next” gen consoles from Sony and MS… (as much as that must be annoying for PC owners who have been waiting for that game for far too long…)

@9 Really? I thought valve allready released 2 3rds of half life 3 allready? Valve stated a bunch of times episode 1, 2 and 3 would make up half life 3. So instead of us waiting from the release of half life 2, till right now they would release it in stages.

Just be grateful we have had a decent fill of half life 3 so far and that episode 3 will be beyond awsome. Can’t wait for it. Mark my words..

It WILL be worth the wait.

@6 i think they may want to do it on a new engine, thats why it takes so long

@14

Valve already stated they do not have any plans on making a new engine so if they do play on making Half Life 3 it will be on the same engine as Portal 2.
