Polish site Polygamia has dug up the system requirements for The Witcher 2, so those looking for an excuse to give the wife in order to upgrade their PC will have to look elsewhere. Maybe.

Here’s the rundown:

  • Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce 260, 1 GB memory / Radeon HD 4850 with 1 GB memory
  • Memory: 3 GB for Windows XP / 4 GB for Windows Vista and Windows 7
  • Hard Disk: At least 16 GB of free space

Minimum specs

  • Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz or AMD equivalent
  • Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce 8800, 512 MB memory or ATI equivalent
  • Memory: 1 GB for Windows XP / 2 GB for Windows Vista and Windows 7

The recommended cards seem pretty low, I guess this game will be nicely consolized.

@2: Oh, are low specs a bad thing now? That’s what’s wrong with PC gaming, if only a handful of people can play new released videogames it’s worthless.

3 GB for XP? If you say so.

The lower the specs, the better.

Bunch of idiotic PC snobs.

You won’t be seeing this on the 360 then…

If CDP got the opportunity to make it, it’s already in development for consoles, that’s for sure, so don’t be worry about specs ;D

@5 Nice bit of tolerance there yourself.
Having a game that scales down to both PS3 & Xbox limits what can be achieved with current, not necessarily high end, PC hardware. Recommended gfx card a 260?
Making a game with the architecture/scale that can be handled by current consoles means all the Pc version can boast is better textures and that is lamentable. Understandably financially driven but pointing it out for the loss it is does not make it an invalid point.
The lower the better? Hamstringing one of three platforms is not a cause for celebration. Three cheers for the race to the bottom. FFS.

@8 Specs mean nothing.

Hardware means nothing.

Good gameplay is universal.

You did a mistake in minimum: “Memory: 1 GB for Windows XP / 2 GB for Windows XP“. It should be Windows Vista and Windows 7.
