Rocksmith debut trailer and screens

Having raised eyebrows with yesterday’s announcement, Ubisoft has released a trailer and handful of promotional images for Rocksmith, the first “authentic guitar game”.

The game is due in September, on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and features an adapter for plugging your own guitar into your console.

See the trailer below, and then a few images courtesy of Gamespot.

@1, how? Who else has released a console game for guitarists rather than people who want to pretend to be guitarists? (caveat: without requiring you to buy a specific guitar from a shoddy manufacturer)

THe music genre has taken a dive thats what I was talking about creating a game like this thats even a smaller niche than the simon says games is taking a huge risk.

@5, it’s a Squier, Fenders entry level machine made from 3rd rate materials and parts line.

So “sort of but no” is your answer.

@6, the music genre that has taken a dive is not the same one this game will fall under.

The size of the “niche” is unknown since figures on how many of the 70 or 80 million+ ps3 and 360 owners who also own a guitar are unknown.

If it’s actually any good it could do roaring trade to guitar players. I’ll get it if it works.

My guess is they have the games core mechanics down but are undecided on an interface, which is why probably no gameplay till closer too september.

I can see rock band 4 using the same technology then if this works really well.They would have a better chance then esp with over 2500 tracks already.

@7
Your opinion on the quality of the guitar doesn’t change the fact that it *is* a real guitar, and has been praised by the vast majority of people as an excellent teaching tool when paired with Rock Band 3. Hell, even the plastic pro controller can help you learn the basics. If you’re an experienced enough guitarist to be criticizing it on its merits as an instrument, you’re obviously not in the target audience, so give it a rest.

@13, give what a rest? Your post bears no relevance to any point I’ve made whatsoever.
