Engadget has gotten its hands on a Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, otherwise known as the PlayStation Phone.

The site has a preview up through here, and there’s a video of it below as well.

Engadget stresses in the preview that what it played around with was “subject to changes, so don’t be alarmed by any missing features or exposed cables,” in the preview.

The site confirms that Xperia Play has a 4-inch multitouch 854 x 480 LCD, a single-core processor inside which clocks from 122.88MHz to 1GHz with an Adreno 205 GPU. That with Gingerbread provides 512MB of RAM, and the folks were able to play Ridge Racer Revolution, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4, Gundam Battle Assault 2, and Super Mario Bros. 4 on the phone.

The phone is slated to be announced in Barcelona next month, according to Bloomberg.

Please have an Optus plan, there’s no way i could buy that outright, expecting it to be $600+ (AUD), & I already have a plan, (BYO phone, bought the Huawei U8300 as a temp smart phone, actually very happy with it to be honest), that’s locked into Optus that i can upgrade to get a new phone.
