Blizzard: WoW Cataclysm dungeons “intended to be challenging”

Thursday, 13th January 2011 13:50 GMT By Johnny Cullen

WoW lead systems designer Greg Street has come out and defended the difficulty of Cataclysm’s dungeons.

He wrote on the forums that the dungeons were “intended” to be the way they were.

“While, at the end of the day, dungeons may just be gussied up loot vending machines, we want you to do more than push a button to get the loot,” said Street.

“We don’t want to give under-geared or unorganised groups a near guaranteed chance of success. Because then the content will feel absolutely trivial for players in appropriate gear who communicate, cooperate, and strategise.

“In Cataclysm, the Heroic dungeons and raids are intended to be challenging – and they are, at least until you over-gear them.”

There you go then. Grow a pair and level up, innit.

Thanks, Eurogamer.

Said it before and I will say it again – Blizzard only have themselves to blame for making their well polished turd such a breeze to play.

You’ve set the bench mark for ‘do little, for high rewards’, now pay the price

@3 dead on right. WotLK was too easy, and release of cata made so many newbz to think they were the F#$%ing shit and basically it’s now like this in a dungeon:

    - Queue for +45 mins
    - get in an HC with 4 other players who don’t f$%#ing know what abilities they have.
    - wipped 5 times on trash mobs, cuz someone doesn’t know what you mean by CC the marked target
    - first wipe on a boss, tank or Healer leaves or they’re being vote kicked while most of the time it’s not really their fault.

so when you don’t provide ppl with appropriate challenges, there will be a wipe-spread uncontainable nerd-rage. I was so unhappy when I saw some dungeons got nerfed and or going to get nerfed in 4.0.6.
