Square “currently not working” with Hitman VO despite sequel mention

Square Enix has told VG247 that the publisher is “currently not working” with Hitman voice actor David Bateson on any projects.
Bateson, who voices assassin Agent 47 in the IO series, mentioned Hitman 5 in an interview published last week.
However, there’s nothing going on currently with Bateson, according to Square.
“Mr. Bateson’s comments are flattering, though come as surprise to us, as we are currently not working with him on any projects,” a rep told us.
Hitman 5′s been rumoured to coming out by next Christmas, although nothing has been confirmed as yet.

I don’t get it. Why does Square react to this? He was making a comment about IO Interactive. If anything he works with IOI not Square Enix.

It is, but it’s still just the publisher. I think Voice Actors are working with the Developer, not the publisher.

If the voice work for the game is already complete then they are correct in saying “we are not currently working with him”.

@6: Either that or they haven’t started with voice recording just yet. Strikes me as something that would come in later once the bigger things have been completed.
