My guess, this will not sell more then Halo 3 and ppl will go tired of it quicky..

    Im never wrong….Mostly

  2. Gadzooks!

Now this is how a shooter should be, not a sludgy mess of postprocessing but pure uncut gameplay.

    Nothing comes close.

    #2 5 years ago
  3. spiderLAW

yeah i dont think its going to sell as well as Halo 3 either. I think this game is a step up from Halo 3 but it isnt a big enough step to make a big impact. Plus, people like Halo for Master Chief. No Master Chief = small loss in sales.

    #3 5 years ago
  4. spiderLAW

@2 Hahahaha! that was a good joke. Im going to use that when i go see my xbot friend in LA today. lol. Good one.

  5. Erthazus

    @2 Oh lool! LOL! LAWL!

Guys, just for lulz. Go see a water. That is the most impressive water i ever saw in the next generation system.

But beyond that what is this structure? Where is furniture? Where is something? This is the question i ask myself since first game.

Halo to video games is the equivalent of britany spears to music

I like the map in the first video alot, looks like lots of fun. I’ve never been a big Halo guy but i liked the beta of Reach alot and this is looking better and better to me. Plus the level editor, surely there’ll be some crazy custom maps from people.

    #7 5 years ago
  8. polygem

@1,3: have you played the beta? it was dope! i´m not a huge halo fan – got bored with halo 3 pretty fast -but i can´t wait for reach—this will sell like crazy, like crazy crazy…and probably well deserved.

    #8 5 years ago
  9. reask

Im not getting the same hype for this as 3 tbh.
I reckon it will do really well but I think MW2 changed the landscape.

    #9 5 years ago
  10. spiderLAW

@5 The water effects are not all that great. There are plenty of console games with better water effects

@8 I have played the beta. I was very good at it too and it was fun. I just wasnt all that impressed with it is all.

I like. Great scale and verticality to the maps too. Second vid there looks like nasty slowdown with big explosions and melee attacks – though could just be video encoding.

Loved the sarcastic comments for the team mates at the end of the first vid too :D.

I just don’t understand the hype that the whole Halo franchise has generated. I’m not saying they are BAD games, I’m just saying the are all probably 7/10′s for me and I think there are better franchises deserving of the sucess.

  19. Johnny Cullen

Get more pumped for this by the day, quite frankly, especially for Firefight.

I played it at the MS Play Day for a bit in Cologne, and it was still as awesome as it was in ODST.

I really want Sep 14 to come quickly.

    #19 5 years ago
  20. DrDamn

It’s all about the core gameplay. The gunplay is supremely well controlled and balanced. For the type of gameplay it offers it’s fairly unrivalled. It has it’s downsides for me, the vehicle controls for wheel based vehicles are an abomination – hate them. Campaign wise the levels tend to be very high quality and variety – with a few notable exceptions.

The thing which I had found restrictive for online was basic starting weapons and then having to know where the weapons were around the levels – and getting there before anyone else. That looks like its being addressed in Reach.

    #20 5 years ago
  21. _Sikamikanico_

It always amuses me when I see people describing these games as “awful”.

Sorry folks, but even if Halo isn’t your thing, you can’t dscribe them as awful. There is a reason they do well – they pack more features than any other console FPS, the online matchmaking is unrivalled, and they are damned fine videogames.

    Haters gonna hate.

    #21 5 years ago

Looks ok but i doubt it’ll top Halo 2 maybe 3 but not 2 imo 2 was pure gold.

  25. Erthazus

“It’s all about the core gameplay.”

Actually not. The core gameplay behind Halo is from Unreal Tournament. Basically Halo is Unreal Tournament but just slow and bad clone of it for console.

Compare THIS, to the Halo and it is like 2007 year game.

“Campaign wise the levels tend to be very high quality and variety – with a few notable exceptions. ”

Very high quality? Jeez. Levels in the campaign for the most part are without anything but a landscape and big structure with enemies.
Not to mention that characters are lifeless and don’t have emotion at all. Your character is just an abomination. Is it a living human beying?

@spiderLAW, it’s not only about Water. It’s about everything there. Basically it’s a big map with one structure and trees and here you go: Waste your time on it. Judging from the videos there is no challenge, depth or anything. Just pure Arcade style of gameplay. Even gunplay is not deep enough.

PS: Who will buy this, after is a sheep, no doubt about that.

Way to both miss the point and show your complete lack of knowledge and understanding. Bravo.

    #26 5 years ago
  27. Erthazus

@26 Explain yourself than. I hear only “you lack of knowledge and understanding” without any explanation.

You said one positive thing that is “The gunplay is supremely well controlled and balanced.” and thats it. Everything what is gunplay there feels like an arcade FPS game. If there was some kind of balance i would see Halo in the cybersport, but no.

@29 Funny, but you don’t have a brain to tell something clever cause’ you lack of skill that is known as “Thinking”. As always.

@28 Hey it’s September, you need to prepare for the school right now. Your mother will be angry because you forgot about your homework.

PS: Everytime i try to speak with Halo fans and ask them what is brilliant about Halo, they always say: Suck cock or it’s brilliant, “You lack of knowledge and understanding” or you are stupid, Ffuu Pc or Sony fanboy and everybody, i mean everybody can’t explain.

    #30 5 years ago
  31. theevilaires

Erthazus you have to understand that Halo was the only game really worth playing last gen on the XBOX. These guys owe Halo their life in a sort of way so no matter what they will always love it despite its repetitive air jordan space marine floating FPS gameplay.

…in short they’re XBOTS :D let them be happy, who cares. besides you have a lot of balls Mr. KZ2 had awesome controls. Don’t throw rocks when you live in a glass house.

  34. Erthazus

@31 Thats the only thing when i think about Halo. But last Generation Xbox 1 had Chronicles of Riddick and it was a very good FPS game at it’s time. Very good FPS. + some Far Cry spinnoffs from Ubisoft. They are bad compared to the original, but at least something.

LoLshock94 and DaMan probably wife and husband and judging by LoLshock94 nickname’s last numbers he was born in 1994 year. These guys are probably 14-15 years old at best. DaMan a little bit smarter. 17-19 at best :D

  35. Crysis

@31, i appreicate you contributed something for once, *looks at LOLshock & itsucks*
@Erthazus, you have to understand that everyone likes something that doesn’t seem special to others, Halo has an allure to many fans, they enjoy the background, the enemies & the multiplayer with unlimited fun with forge & the outcome of their maps, Halo may not have Crysis graphics, Simulator realism or anything like that, it’s just a modern game with a lot of allure to it, i am what itsucks would call a ‘PhonyBot’ i love my ps3 waaaay more than my 360, but the only reason i generally use my 360 is for halo, it’s a great game, like Sims, i hate it & couldn’t care less if the franchise was burnt to the ground, but many people love it although i dont really see why nor do i care

    #35 5 years ago
  36. PokyTubby 93

i like the unlimited abilities in the first vid he mentions it

    #36 5 years ago
  37. Crysis

that’s an option, also the 1st vid is technically the 2nd vid, they have it in the wrong order, but i’m liking this hologram ability, that’s sure to piss of some hardcore players more than any other ability “*BOOM* headsh-what?!” :D

I would try and explain it for you, but you shown in the Vanquish forum thread that cold hard facts do not even make an impression, so I really can’t be arsed when this would essentially come down to opinion. You’ve already settled on yours quite firmly.

    #40 5 years ago
  41. Erthazus

@40 The only thing you are saying is that “I would try to explain…” than explain. damn it.

@35 I don’t need Crysis graphics or some modern stuff. I don’t disagree that the game is fun. Every game is fun and people buy Wii for fun. But does Halo worth 60 bucks really, when you have this: ? Same game, just polished mechanics to it. It’s just Halo compared to other FPS games not a good game in my “Opinion”. If it was a good game i would buy it. I just don’t see the reason Why it is good. I played 2 Halo games and no decent (not great or awesome) graphics, design, gunplay, story found there. Whats the hype about? Everything is just bland.

    #41 5 years ago
  42. Crysis

“they enjoy the background, the enemies & the multiplayer with unlimited fun with forge & the outcome of their maps” pick up CoD, you’re a soldier shooting terrorists or what not, NOTHING more, see the difference? Bungie has put a HUGE amount of effort into the games backstory, something which has never truley been done before, granted there are a few games with huge backstories (i.e. Warhammer40000 games)& the countless shows/movies transitions, they weren’t created or intended as a video game.
But i understand what you mean when you see an ordinary or generic game being incredibly praised, for example, i see nothing when i look at super mario except a game capable of being run on my browser, but saying that @ a Nintendo conferance or something would likely get me tied to a stick & burnt alive.
Also i would like to see another game using a map editor like Bungie did, they made creating maps fun :D some of the creations are pure awesome & i have high hopes for reach with it’s new forge world

    #42 5 years ago
  43. DrDamn

    Ok go on then.

What Halo does fantastically well is the actual gameplay. Ignore the graphics, ignore the story even. The boiled down to it gunplay is fantastic. Levels play out as a series of engaging and balanced battles without resorting to cheap overly scripted set pieces, illusion destroying infinite respawn mechanics or forcing you to approach the game in a particular way.

Halo ODST was a great example of the approaches Halo takes because it was essentially a greatest hits collection of the different sorts of levels that define Halo as a game. Tank levels, corridor levels, Phantom levels, sniper levels, road levels. The variety an design in them is fantastic. Levels frequently open out to give you a huge number of options of how to approach it.

The individual weapons have a use, a reason and a balance to them. They aren’t included because they would be cool, or look good. They are included to add depth and variation to the battles. A head to head fight is a proper battle too. It’s very rarely simply down to who sees who first or just who is the quickest at aiming. The fact you can rarely one shot kill people means an individual confrontation has a more tactical edge to it. I’m not implying all games should be like this, just that some should be and that Halo does it particularly well. Vehicles are also a big part of Halo. Again they add variety but not at the expense of balance.

It’s clear from all the Halo games that they have a lot of polish, not just in production values but in fine-tuning the gameplay and multiplayer. Maybe lots of other games don’t have the luxury of this time, but with Halo it shows by the bucket load,

@31 Never understood people’s problem with Killzone 2′s controls either. It took a different approach, but what they did they did great.

I guess some gamers just get into a mindset of “I’ve been using this specific control scheme for years, so it’s like learning to walk again.”

    #44 5 years ago
  45. DrDamn

For the record I also enjoyed the KZ2 controls. I liked what they did. I don’t want all my shooters to control the same way. The campaign I thought was lacking, with some highlights, the mech was fantastic. The multiplayer was really very good too.

  46. PokyTubby 93

@ 42 well there are some games that have map editors, but they are mainly on computers. The whole Mario series should of stuck to the classic original console that it was on in the first place. Most hypes are overrated, but the halo series as all franchises with video games has had it’s mediocre games *cough* halo wars*cough* (granted that Microsoft made it)but nevertheless it is a halo game. Warhammer 40K is and always will be a very detailed storyline *cough* made by nerds*cough*. The whole point of a violent video game(FPS if you will) is to have the human brain stimulated and entertained, be that through the artwork involved in the game( with far cry for example) or be it the in game cut-scenes. The company that makes a game like halo want to take over the world (:P) through getting everyone to play their games.
“But i understand what you mean when you see an ordinary or generic game being incredibly praised, for example, i see nothing when i look at super mario except a game capable of being run on my browser”
most games now-a-days can be turned into a simplistic browser from of the game. A lot of games are generic and suck.
Forge world is a new and innovative extra that has evolved into something that is just in it’s own right is a really good reason to buy a halo game (that includes forge) I myself can not wait for the game to come out, i loved the beta (and the bugs involved in it) it was a change of pace for the (FPS) gaming industry from its other remakes of a remake of a remake* cough* i mean MW2. Most equal a “all ready been done” kind of game, but reach is a really good example of a game that had changed for the better, I appreciate that Bungie wanted to go out in a bang.
