Rumour: 3DS to launch next March in the UK

3ds3

VG247 has learned this morning that Nintendo is telling UK publishers 3DS will release in Britain next March.

Nintendo is apparently touring British companies for meetings relating to the machine.

We were told no other details.

"That's rumour and speculation as we've not announced any date for 3DS," said Nintendo UK on the matter this morning.

UK retailers have already opined that we won't see the show-stopping handheld in the UK until 2011.

Nintendo's official line is that 3DS will launch "in all major markets" before the end of March next year.

3D acceleration

Speculation is continuing to mount over whether or not 3DS will make it to market this side of Christmas, with rumour suggesting both Japan and the US will get the hardware in 2010.

Japanese retail listings have put the machine inside this year, although no specific dates have ever been mentioned.

NoA boss Reggie Fils-Aime appeared to confirm 3DS would launch in the US in 2011 on American TV, but this was later shot down by Kotaku sources, suggesting the US machine would make 2010.

3DS, the next iteration of Nintendo's evergreen handheld, was announced at E3 in June to much fanfare.
