Nintendo has just announced Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.

The game is compatible with the Wii MotionPlus and the Nunchuck.

Miyamoto walked out on stage – out of his avatar basically – and demoed how to use the controls in the game.

You can cut grass and plants, still, the Slingshot uses MotionPlus, you can roll bombs now with style similar to bowling.

The bow am arrow is back, and you can use a beetle to pick up items, and fly the thing around like a remote camera. You can shoot ‘em too.

Link can now use a whip, and if you want to switch to your sword, MotionPlus make it easier to switch weapons and scroll through your items system.

Miyamoto said the game will be out next year.

Blimey. I like the name. Maybe this will be my first experience with Zelda?

Maybe gametrailers stream will work today? Hmm…

do we get a realistic sword and shield peripheral with the Collector’s Edition???? that would be AWESOME if it looked like Miyatmoto’s in the picture.

WOW.. the controls look HORRIBLE.. the aiming sucks.. he has to do things multiple times for them to work. He can’t even select items without it twitching all over.. and lastly .. that INvisible controller that takes up a 1/5th of the screen is UBER annoying.. Fuck this game.

Nintendo’s presser is pretty meh. Didn’t think anything could top the second half of Microsoft’s presser but somehow, they’re doing it.

I was really hyped with a new Zelda Adventure but after that…not so much.
especially if it’s not compatible with the original Wii motion controller.

Nintendo done it with the Twilight Princess trying to make some profit (ripping us off) and i’m afraid they’re doing it again with the Motion Plus.I remember i couldn’t find one copy of Twilight Princess anywhere for the GC(which was first released to)shortages from day 1 of it’s release. so i had to purchase a Wii…many had fallen into Nintendo’s trap back then.

Hard to tell from the YouTube videos but the cel-shading isn’t quite as great as it was in Wind Waker. I’ll wait for better vids and pictures before making a final call on that, though.

I said as much over on EG. Something’s missing, but it’s hard to say if that’s because it’s still early-ish in dev or not. I can’t see them allowing it to not be pretty though…
