New LA Noire screens show blood-soaked crime scenes

Sunday, 30th May 2010 17:38 GMT By Joe Anderson

New LA Noire screens have popped up, showing some of the bloody nice locales.

Two of the screens look particularly nasty, showing the inside of a car repainted with a murder victim’s innards.

LA Noire is due for release at the end of the year; although there is a chance it may be delayed into next year.

Check out the new screens below.

Oh my… Thats actually looks ok. Very poor on details.

No way they are going to beat Mafia II

You wait years for a 20s to 40s setting crime game and then two come along at once :)

LA Noire does indeed have the potential to beat Mafia II .. but let’s not compare ‘em.

Let’s just enjoy them both equally.. That’s what I’ll be doing. :)

@1 you need to be a fool to underestimate Rockstar’s ability to create the best possible experiences.

I never knew it was possible to see if a game will beat another game simply by some screenshots. Knowing by now Rockstar puts insane detail in their games, if it’s really RDR in mafia-style, it’s gonna be crazy.

From what i’ve seen of Mafia II, it looks very nice. But doesn’t have the crazy attention to the littlest details, like GTA IV and now RDR do have. Personally i care alot for that. I don’t think these games need to beat eachother, i just hope both are gonna be awesome.

But as for LA Noire, isn’t the lead character a detective and needs to solve murders? I wonder if you still have all the freedom you can have in these kind of games.

@9 you played Mafia game? It’s not going to be like RDR and Rockstar is not developing L.A. Noir by the way.

@9 Not only you can have all the freedom you experience in other open world games, you can expect them to put tons of more details into LA.Noire because of its setting’s potential
It’s actually all about details. I read it somewhere (can’t remember, maybe it was GI) that in your investigations you can even pick a pair of glasses and check out its brand.
The amount of details in this game can be insane.

@10 Yeah, it’s been developing by Team Bondi, but I don’t think Rockstar are going to destroy their reputation over a game which is below their standards.

    @ 10

No i didn’t play Mafia II. But i was at the GC in Germany last year, when i was still working for our own gaming website. We saw a very long gameplay demonstration of Mafia II there and while it looked very good, the incredible attention to detail GTA IV and RDR have, wasn’t present in Mafia II. The recent trailer of Mafia II also doesn’t show that. And earlier this year there was a new gameplay demonstration movie on the internet and it hadn’t changed that much from GC.

Of course i can’t know for sure how it will look come august, but fact is….no other developer puts so much detail into the gameworld as Rockstar. So i’d be surprised if Mafia II’s devs do that too. I know Mafia II won’t be like RDR but it’s similar to GTA IV in several ways, and in terms of details i’d bet money on that GTA IV’s gameworld is still more ‘lifelike’ and detailed than Mafia II’s. We’ll see come august.

Rockstar is not developing LA Noire? You sure? Team Bondi develops it and Rockstar publishes it then?

@12 It’s not even a GTA game experience.

First Mafia was a masterpiece and the city was ve-e-ery big, photo realistic at it’s time and it was not a GTA experience at all even if they had Police or some challanges with cars.

Mafia is all about the story, Setting, Atmosphere and absolutely great cut scenes. City is just a background and for a great atmosphere. First Mafia was deep in shooting mechanics for it’s time and cars. But thats just it.
And there was nothing much in the city to do compared to GTA games.

Story what was amazing about Mafia II and people expect that.

PS: Yeap. Team Bondi makes L.A. Noir and Rockstar publishing it.
Team Bondi is a small Ps2 developer in the past that made OK Getaway game that still sold very well.

The Getaway? Hmmmm….ok. Didn’t know that. Either way, i am looking forward to both games. This year is absolutely incredible for gaming. Although, LA Noire is not confirmed for this year, right?

@14 – officially it is Q3 2010 but it looks like it wont make that given the amount of media revealed.

PS Where the fuck is max payne 3? Thats Q3 2010 aswell and there hasn’t even been a trailer! O_o

You know these screenshots aren’t anywhere near new. They were all in Edge Magazine 213 about 2 months ago. Come on, you’re a bit slow on the uptake. Thats why I buy Edge.
