3D firmware update for PS3 not compatible with Blu-rays

Sony has announced that its 3D firmware update scheduled for June, doesn’t make PS3 compatible with upcoming 3D Blu-ray films.
It’s just to get the console ready for the release of 3D games, which were announced as part of a deal with Sony’s 3D Bravia TV sets.
Here’s the games in case you missed ‘em: Wipeout HD, Motorstorm Pacific Rift, PAIN and Super Stardust HD.
According to TechRadar, PS3 will eventually get 3D Blu-ray compatibility through another firmware update later in the year.

What a strange decision, and a shame because I’m more interested in 3D movies than games.

Sony already said at the CES in january that there will be 2 firmware updates, with the first in summer only for games.
