EA: PS3 lead development console for Medal of Honor

EALA’s creative director, Richard Farrelly, has revealed that development of Medal of Honor’s being led on PS3 and that the team will “maximize” what the platform can do for the game.
Speaking with CVG, Farrelly said that the team is working hard across all platforms, and reiterated that it will not work with Move.
“We’re leading on PS3, we’ve developed the game on PS3,” he said. “We’re working hard to deliver the exact same experience across all platforms. I think for me the most important thing is for everyone that plays Medal of Honor is satisfied.
“I guess the benefit to the PS3 owner is that we’re leading on it, so we’ll maximize what that platform can do for our game.”
The game is to be made available on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
EALA says that it will have a demo released, and the game itself will have some “cool toys”

Seems to be more of trend these days. Hopefully it will result in better performing PS3 games.

Yeah I remember when EA practically ignored the PS3 in the early days. This is a good thing.
As long as each version is good, its all gravy.

Let’s bring the glory back home developers! Don’t let the legacy of PlayStation die.
The power of the CELL will save you from HELL

Frontline was the pinnacle for MOH for me, if they can get near that i’ll buy it.

From sometime EA are more focused on the PS3. With MOH i think it is normal the series started on PS but I also hope that the PC version of the game is not just a port. The best game from the series was PC exclusive.

If porting from 360 to PS3 is really such a pain in the balls I’m somewhat surprised that more third parties don’t do it this way around.

I think now they got to know PS3 better, so they will create better quality games, as well they can always put more content with bluray.

Only problem is that single-player MOH is based on Unreal Engine which performs better on 360 in almost all games released using it so far.
Multiplayer is using DICE’s Frostbite which is a much more cross-platform friendly engine (and does indeed lead on PS3).

Unreal Tournament 3(which was made by Epic the makers of the Unreal Engine) says HI!
but you said almost so I won’t kill you
But seriously these devs are now made up with these fucking new young brats fresh out of college who think they are the shit. Since they are young (they prefer XBOX)they are going to lean toward M$ system cause thats all they teach in those schools.
The CELL programing looks alien to them and thats why they are scared to program for it first.
(The ideal is to make the best game we can possibly make on the 360 cause its easier then do the sloppy hard work later on the PS3 cause we hate it, cause they killed our beloved SEGA
…THE END)

No thank you. Every port must start from PC. when devs will learn it and only then make a DECENT ports to PS3 or 360. Or make a game from scratch for consoles.

@11 Man, I bet you wish any of that was true. Believe it or not, developers are paid professionals. They don’t waste their time giving a fuck about infantile fanboyism – They have a product to make.
Fact is, Sony made a developers kit that was ridiculously expensive and cost far more work hours to learn and apply than it could ever translate into sales, so they effectively forced all multi-platform developers to go with using the Xbox devkits and then just port it onto the PS3. That way they could spend their time and money making content, rather than battling Sonys software.
This is why most multi-platform games take longer to load on the PS3 than on the 360, without any noticable graphic improvements.
Aside from blindly focusing on hardware to sell the PS3, that was probably Sonys biggest mistake this generation. They’ve been working hard and offering endless price cuts to fix that, so now, four years later, people might actually get to see the extra power of the console that they paid for, a in multi-platform game.

cross platform development is always a compromise IMO
Lets see… lets make a game with 35GB of textures and use the HDD to stream them and some SPU time to act as secondary GPU then throw in creative non peer to peer net code and then try and port that to 360… oh… you can’t.
scratch that then… just make a 360 game for PS3 and lead on the PS3 but don’t get too ambitious.
great! might as well just use Unreal Engine 3

complete bull!
“We’re leading on PS3, we’ve developed the game on PS3,” he said. “We’re working hard to deliver the exact same experience across all platforms.”
If they are maximizing the PS3′s power and the same result will be similar to all platforms, why the hell should the Xbox 360 look exactly like the ps3′s version if they maxed out the ps3???
If they are maxing out the ps3′s power:
*There should be no loading on screen!
*wide scale of map
*heavy use of anisotropic
