US GoW III TV ad is very ignorant

GoW III Butler

We’re being ignored, children. Kevin Butler just wants to play God of War III.

And who can blame him for doing so in the new US TV ad for the game, as it’s received very high marks so far. Pretty great for a title that cost $44 million to make.

Get it below.

God of War III is due out next Tuesday in the US and next Friday in the UK for PS3.

Thanks, US PS Blog.

Their ad campaign continues to amuse. May it only end when it stops being funny.

I find it funny. Other game Comercials TRY to be COOL and Stellar, while some comedy is good and fresh. I love the commercials SONY offers. Something fresh, not too serious, everyone can enjoy.

That is the best commercial I’ve ever seen.

(Shame it’s for such a terrible game…)

Whats so terrible about GoW, Michael? The obvious trolling of it lately seems to beg the question.

I’ve already written a half dozen paragraphs on why I think the game is terrible in previous threads. If you want to know why I don’t like it, check there.

I wasn’t aware expressing an opinion on the quality of the game was “trolling”. Then again, everything thinks any sort of expressed negative opinion is “trolling” nowadays.

Love these ads.

@Michael – Do you frequent EG forums by any chance? you probably do but I’ve ignored you. That kinda of rubbish goes well down there.

Come on Michael, you’re better than posting sniping little comments like that. If you don’t like the game then fair do’s, but there’s a time and place.

@Michael
You could always state that you don’t like it, rather than label it as terrible.
The scores themselves show it is far from terrible, and that word is just your opinion.
As such, surely it is more discussive and less fanboy to just say ‘Well, I don’t like it.’

@6 We had a chat about your attitude on those posts and that’s where it should have stayed. Now you just look like a trolling twat.

@6 Michael you don’t like it that’s all, that doesn’t make it a terrible game unless you underestimate the intelligence and personal taste of so many people who actually like it.
It’s your preference that you’re not into this game and is pretty much acceptable but making comments every now and then for something that you don’t like is questionable

C’mon, Michael. Over the past few days, you’ve given no positive remarks towards the game on VG, only adding how the game is terrible without linking myself or others, to my knowledge, to a post that has all of your opinion(s) on it expressed. I think you’re a decent guy; I have no complaints. Thats just how I see the situation. Sorry. (I’ll just ignore that little jab ^.^b)

GOW isn’t a bad game. No game truely is in the sense that someone will (prolly) like it. But GoW is a bit over hyped for what it is.

I’d like to see less focus on eye candy(sex mini games – why?), and more focus on game depth. Leveling up, placable stat points, equipment, and a deep skill tree. Also less less QTEs, never understood the reasoning behind that “Gameplay” technique.

On the plus side the games graphics are very nice. And really, after all, isn’t that what matters the most?

Why would you want so many RPG elements in a game that isnt an RPG?

I’ve always thought gameplay mattered most, but I’m eccentric like that. ;)

Because I find the current game shallow. Pretty to look at, but very little to keep me going. To me its like Pacman. Fun for a little while but I can’t do it very long.

Thats just crazy talk PT!

There is a difference between an opinion and trolling but it is annoying when you dont like a game but everyone else seems to as im like that with Halo. Id never call the game terrible though as the critical acclaim the franchise has got shows it isnt.

With God of War though, it’s nigh on impossible to divorce the spectacle of it all from the gameplay, as without one the other is nothing. If you’re looking for depth of combat then you’ll likely be better served by Devil May Cry or Bayonetta.

People underestimate how much GoW’s accessibility has helped it succeed. It’s visceral, instant gratification focussed. Whatever your skill range, you’ll still get to experience the full force of Kratos tearing through his enemies, and crucially, it’s as satisfying for the person mixing and mashing combos as it is for the folk who just hammer away at the x button.

It’s the gaming equivalent of the Hollywood AAA summer blockbuster. You’ll gasp, jaws will drop and you’ll talk about all the awesome set pieces with your friends, but it’s not going to leave you stroking your chin at its deep play mechanics.

Great commercial :) Sony has been spot on with all of these so far; let’s hope it continues :D

One quick question. At the end of this commercial what is it that is said? It’s all muddled together but sounds like “trust and support” to me. Just wondering if anyone knows for sure what is it?

@ everyone who made a response to me.

*I* think it’s terrible. Regardless of what other magazines or website scores state, *I* think it is a terrible game. Where did I *ever* say that was anything more than personal opinion? That’s right… I didn’t.

It’s amazing how defensive people get about someone sharing a difference of opinion.

“C’mon, Michael. Over the past few days, you’ve given no positive remarks towards the game on VG, only adding how the game is terrible without linking myself or others, to my knowledge, to a post that has all of your opinion(s) on it expressed.”

If you really want a link that badly, Galatic_Barret, here it is: http://www.vg247.com/2010/03/04/rumour-ign-gives-gow-iii-1010-in-leaked-score/comment-page-1/#comments Post 47 explains my problems with the game in *very* concise detail.

And in fact, I did give the game a few positive remarks in a few posts. I said that it had a great sense of scale and an epic feel to it… outside of combat, unfortunately.

@ Eregol. I’m not going to censor my critical opinion of something just to humour someone else’s sensitive nature. If they can’t take someone else’s difference of opinion without getting over-defensive, that’s their problem, not mine.

“There is a difference between an opinion and trolling but it is annoying when you dont like a game but everyone else seems to as im like that with Halo.”

Exactly. Thank you.
