Arc date and partners expected to be announced tomorrow

ps3motion

Sony will press release a firm date and a list of partners for its PS3 Motion Controller tomorrow, a source has told VG247.

The announcement is to be made at 5.00pm PST/1.00am GMT tomorrow, we were told today, ahead of a Sony press conference in San Francisco on Wednesday evening.

It’s unknown whether or not the system’s name is to named this week. Previously heavily rumoured to be called both Arc and Gem, new rumours in recent days suggest the system is to be called something separate.

A report this morning claimed the Motion Controller is to arrive in two pieces, in a similar set-up to Wii’s handset.

Arc will release later this year.

It’s GDC this week, people. Get out the bunting.

I’m excited about arc. Well I’m excited about the idea of arc. I want to see something new. But I really was more excited before I heard about the nun-chuck add on. What a mistake.

It would have been much better to just use 2 identical arc controllers and forget the nunchuck. Now we are going to have to have the atrophied nunchuck laying around. We are going to have to buy two pieces but for some games we are STILL going to want to have a second arc controller anyway. All this to try and save the consumer money? What the crap. The only reason they are doing this is because they know that holding a dualshock with one hand is moronic. The only reason they wanted us to do THAT is to make the arc less expensive. They should have just put a freeking analog stick on the original arc controller and made it a little more expensive. Everything else they sell is overpriced anyway. That way you can have two identical controllers, no need for p.o.s nunchucks.

I don’t know why they decided to go this way, to copy Nintendo so blatantly. They were on the verge of having a great motion system but they decided the cheap and less risky option would be just copy Nintendo outright. Coulda been so much better! Too bad the businessmen trump the developers.

I’m confused! Do you mean 1am GMT tomorrow? As in tonight?

Or do you mean 5pm PST tomorrow?

Yes but 5pm PST tomorrow is the day after GMT. It’s the time the tomorrow applies to which is confusing.

What was wrong? Just the date and time or the actual announcements?

The date. I thought it was going to happen last night, but it’s clearly going to be tonight before the press conference.
