Gearbox: Borderlands slowed Colonial Marines development

Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford has started chatting about Aliens: Colonial Marines, now that Borderlands is finished, packaged, and shipped.

Speaking with MCV, Pitchford said that Borderlands was mostly to blame for the take-over of Gearbox resources, but now that it's out of the way and getting some DLC loving, he is free to chat a bit about the sidelined Aliens game it's had in the house.

“We have an Aliens game with Sega and 20th Century Fox which we're really excited about,” he said. “It’s the thing I've been stealing from all my career. Now I'm really working on it, but we've been quiet about that so far.

“Borderlands took over Gearbox. We had so much fun working on that and when we finished we wanted to carry on. And the DLC – we've launched two so far and there’s a third to come which take us to a new level in every way.”

Back in August of last year, SEGA's Mike Hayes said the game's release depended on how well Aliens vs Predator did once it was released - which seems like a "go" now that AvP has topped the charts.
