Gran Turismo PSP sales top 1.8 million, full IP figures released

Gran Turismo PSP sales have exceeded 1.8 million, Polyphony Digital’s said, with franchise life-time sales passing 55 million.
The developer’s updated figures for every game in the series, showing GT5 Prologue sales nearing 5 million worldwide.
- Gran Turismo – 10,850,000
- Gran Turismo 2 – 9,370,000
- Gran Turismo 3 A-spec – 14,890,000
- Gran Turismo Concept Series – 1,560,000
- Gran Turismo 4 “Prologue” – 1,350,000
- Gran Turismo 4 – 10,980,000
- Gran Turismo 5 “Prologue” – 4,650,000
- Gran Turismo PSP – 1,800,000
- Total – 55,450,000
GT PSP released on October 1 last year, alongside PSP go’s launch.
The next GT game, GT5, was delayed recently into the never-never. It was supposed to release in Japan this March.
The clearest indication of a release date for the hugely anticipated game is “fall,” dropped by a SCEE exec earlier this week.
Thanks, PS3Center.

For a PSP game that’s pretty much voodoo to get sales like that. Good for them though, the brand still has an awful lot of selling power.

Impressive!
I’d ask if that included PSPGo bundling but that’d only add 10k or so

Speaking of other GT games, I’m personally still fucked off that they removed the HD support from GT4 in the PAL version.

GT 5 Prologue sold for like 4.6 million…
I think GT5 can surpass GT4 sales but not GT3 sales.

How many PS3s are out there? Not everyone loves racing SIMULATORS.
But anyways, congrats for PSP GT.

@7 – what are you asking?
GT has a large appeal and historically is one of the biggest selling franchises. Not everyone likes SIMULATORS. Not everyone likes FPS, etc. But so what, on past history millions do like SIMULATORS and given the prologue sold over 4M on a smaller install base it’s pretty obvious that GT5 is going to sell way over that on the current install base.
OT a bit more – pretty good sales. It’s funny because so many people apply the front loaded sales of many big FPS titles to titles like this, declaring it a ‘failure’ because week 1 sales aren’t huge, while in fact titles like this sell very steadily and will usual amass good LTD figures.
If GT PSP has already sold 1.8 it’s for sure going to get over 2M and may climb a fair bit higher.
