Halo: Reach beta video gets leaked

haloreach

Someone has gone done a naughty, leaking a video of the opening screens from the upcoming Halo: Reach beta.

The video shows that there’s single-player as well as multiplayer stuff to try in the test.

The message greeting the player during boot-up says:

Welcome to the Halo: Reach Public Beta, the experience you are about to enjoy is an early sample of a few multiplayer and single-player levels from Halo: Reach, launching exclusively on Xbox 360 later this year. Until then, drive into Activities or Campaign and have a blast.

It also reveals a new gameplay mechanic known as “Murder Mode”, which lets you kill enemies without being seen.

Access to the beta is included with every copy of Halo 3: ODST.

Find the video below, courtesy of XE.

Game’s due later this year.

New screens were released of Bungie’s last piece in Halo’s cake this morning.

Here’s a list someone on another forum put together…

1. Background image on menu screen doesn’t look like real Bungie assets, especially considering we’ve already seen Tom Morello’s off-screen shots of the menu.
2. Music over Bungie logo is not right. In fact, the music throughout is cheap and tacky, and only one part sounds remotely like Halo music, or what we’ve heard so far from Reach.
3. The welcome splash is an admirable fake, but the text doesn’t read like it was written by Bungie, and lacks their sense of humour; it also doesn’t have an image, whereas every other splash screen in Halo 3/onwards history does, with the exception of some Forge splashes.
4. The menu “click” is horribly wrong. “Syncing” the button press to what happens on screen is poorly done.
5. More awful music once we reach the menu, and the background is static; every other Halo movies or does a fly-around. The options on the menu don’t conform to the scheme laid down in Bungie menus so far either.
6. Load screen is a significant step back from the load screens for other titles.
7. There is no “Murder Mode”, Bungie would never call something that anyway, and stealth assassinations are not performed by pressing right on the d-pad. The diagram is also cheap and tacky.
8. Camera pulls away just when the actual game should begin.
9. Aforementioned text-to-voice speech (listen to “Commander” and “interrupted”).

The text to voice speech is pretty obvious (that’s the first thing I noticed).

But Halo music has always been “cheap and tacky”. :D

But yeah, i guess the rest makes sense. After all, if it wasnt a fake why stop recording before showing the actual game?

You have that video and the encoding saved somewhere for regular use here, don’t you?

Na, it’s HTML.

You can use it here if you know how to properly use it.

The video I just have bookmarked. :D

Bah, the main themes are ok, ODST’s soundtrack was good but with stuff like the shit you hear in the first part of Delta Halo in H2 i cant say the same for the other Halo games.
