No Japanese release for Silent Hill: Homecoming

Konami’s suspended the Japanese release of Silent Hill: Homecoming.

That Japanese note just tells fans to “look forward to future titles in the series,” according to Kotaku.

At least you’ll be getting to see Silent Hill 6 before too long. You know; the one involving original Team Silent members in an effort to get back to proper survival horror roots?

Silent Hill 6? You talking about Shattered Memories?

Shattered Memories isnt being made by Team Silent, so we may still be far off from a REAL Silent Hill sequel.

Hopefully they do get back to their roots. Homecoming wasn’t horrible but to use Silent Hill was blasphemy imo.

Does Team Silent Hill even still exist at Konami?
Isn’t the reason that the franchise keeps being out sourced because Konami disbanded the in house dev team?

iirc, Team Silent only ever used to get together to do Silent Hill games, they were never a permanent team. After the first three they all moved off to work on other projects and they never quite managed to get them all back together again. Which they need to do, obviously. To save the series.

Yeah alot of them have gone their own way now, only Akira Yamaoka seems to be involved in the newer games.

Is Silent Hill: Homecoming *that* bad?

Its not as bad as some people make out but its far from the quailty you’d want from a Silent Hill game, i mean for starters look at the pic up there, can you believe thats a PS3/360 game? Seriously…

I’ve been meaning to pick it up if I see it cheap, but it seems to be holding its price remarkably well for a game that practically nobody gives a shit about. :-|

The game doesn’t look like that, not sure where that pic came from but its not from the console version. It looks stripped.

But on the quality of the game its not the graphics (which were pretty good) it was the plot, they went with the movie and gave Silent Hill a reason for the way it is/was. I never had to kill so many humans in Silent Hill game ever. Not only that the twist was sooo obvious you could see it coming by the first few hours. If I were to make a SIlent Hill I would do what Shattered Memories is doing remove weapons, drop the PC right in the midst of it and watch us squirm with fear. ALso remove this whole cult background from the movie and Homecoming.

The cult was an integral part of the story in the first (and third) Silent Hill games, though.

The cult was in the games way before the movie.

EDIT: Actually just thinking about it the cult wasnt even in the movie i dont think :S

Yeah there was a cult but they didn’t bring the gloom of Silent Hill because the lack of sacrifice in this particular game. The first and third were about bringing a dead god back to life. Its been awhile since I played the third and even more so for the first so excuse me if I am mistaken. Silent Hill in the first and third seemed more complicating then a Greek God that didn’t get his virgin for sacrifice.

Same here Blerk. I’m checking its price from time to time with no luck…
