GDC: Nintendo announces new Zelda for DS

Wednesday, 25th March 2009 17:12 GMT By Nathan Grayson

Nintendo just announced a new Legend of Zelda title for the DS. It’s called Spirit Tracks, and will be out later this year!

A quick video showed Link on a train “conducting it,” according to our lady on the scene, and then him fighting a monster thing “like an owl.”

There was nothing else shown. We’ll have plenty more soon, with any luck.

DSi makes it sound like DSiWare game… It’s still just a DS game right? That will play on a normal DS?

Yes it’s a full blown Zelda adventure like Phantom Hourglass but you have a train instead of a boat to navigate the world. :D Gunna be AWESOME!!! They actually announced a Zelda WOOT!

BTW two things with this article. First of all, it’s a DS game, not DSi, and will work on any DS. Second of all, there was more information given about the game, Link can control enemies somehow, the trailer shows him controlling an armored knight to distract a Zora while he sneaks around the back to attack it.

Will it still have the completely crap “control Link with the stylus” thing? ‘cos if so you can count me out already.

    /still bitter about Phantom Hourglass

If it’s anywhere near the quality of Minish Cap I’d be happy, but I’m with Blerk on this one, the stylus control in PH was a pain.

Truthfully, I want an online co-op 4 swords game more than anything else from zelda. 4 Swords on the GC was sublime.
