Dead Space Wii – Video shows first-person horror

deadspaceextraction

EA’s released the first footage of just-announced Wii horror Dead Space Extraction, showing a first-person game.

The preceding 360 and PS3 titles were third-person action efforts.

The new version is due for release at the end of this year, and features a woman in the lead role.

Extraction’s story takes place on land, being set on a distant mining colony, as opposed to the spaceship setting of the first game.

After the break.

Looks as though they’re getting a hell of a lot out of the machine there.

It’s a sad state of affairs when a game that looks worse than Riddick did on the xbox last gen is “getting a hell of a lot” out of the Wii.

It does look a bit like an on-rails shooter! Or at least first-person. Now there’s a surprise. :-o

When was the last time you played Riddick?

Hint : Its not as attractive as you remember.

Umm… take a look at the gameplay section of that vid.

Hint: It’s fugly.

Are people getting confused by the pre-rendered bit at the start of that vid?

Would explain the ‘coop’; just 2 targets darting around the screen. I’m putting this game under ‘FAIL’ till i see some actual gameplay footage, and it better prove me wrong on the on-rail assumption, we’re not in the early 90′s anymore and the Wii isnt an arcade machine.

House of the Dead Overkill says you talk pish. The Wii is perfectly suited to these kinds of games and they need a rebirth.

The gameplay bit with the two guys at the end just looks like Dead Space, the monster models were never that detailed in the full game because they were rubbishly designed sacks of flesh, the environement just looks the same.

I like how the picture Pat’s chosen for the story looks like the mutant zombie bloke is chowing down on a big cock. :-D

I’ve been enjoying my on rails shooters on the Wii, and I’ve no problem with this one going in that direction. Whilst it does look decent graphically, the last thing I want to see from this game, is a graphically compromised rehash of the first game.

looks ok considering the budget and the dev house.

will buy assuming it’s not fundamentally broken.

at least it’s not a lame port of the PS360 version.

on rails = insta lose.
if however they make it like resident evil 4 then it could be a bit of the old win pie.

still, at least its not some joke game like … hmm, most of the games on the wii :D
