Acti Blizz just confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will release in the fourth quarter of this year.

No details on the Infinity Ward title were given, but an exec said he believed the game will be the most anticipated for the end of 2009.

The news came as part of Activision’s fourth quarter earnings call.

Another one? For some reason I wasn’t expecting another ‘new’ IW COD this year. Churn-tastic.

    It’s Activisions fault.

Practically no COD fans wanted the the Treyarch developed COD5, but I’m sure with the cash rolling in from yet more record sales, Activision don’t care.

This is the game that COD fans are waiting for, and it appears to be on target for release on time in a very normal 2 year development cycle.

Man, I want this game so much, I feel like pre-ordering already!
